Default Shades of Black

Hi All:
I am interested in your thoughts on Black Paint (for my 91 ZR-1). I t is already black. As it has a replacement 91 LT-5 in it, I am not too worried about deviating from factory paint. Are there any shades/types of Black out there that I should consider?

I think pearl or metallic black is pretty awesome. Matte black would be interesting, though probably not very timeless nor very easy to maintain.

I don't think they were offered on Corvettes (I may be wrong) but early 90s Chevrolet had "Cherry Black" for Camaroes.
This was black w/ transparent dark red.

There was a factory color available for the C4 called "Black Rose". Probably very similar to the "Cherry Black" you are talking about.

I had a 91 zr1 and i loved it. Time to move on and got a new 2009 z06.

the zr1 i had was black and so is the 09 z06. I will say the black on the 09 is outstanding. really pops and seems much deeper and darker then the 91 zr1. you might look at that and see what the difference is on the gm paint codes are.

Is it possible to put a "candy" metallic coating over the black that might have a tint? Something that would create the effect of the black cherry without starting all over?

There is a pic of a matte black one posted awhile back. Had a bulge in the hood for clearance of single turbo. See if I can find it..
