Default Stock ZR-1 Performance Data?

Going with the later engines that were rated for more hp, what are the 0-60, 1/4 mile, and top speed figures for a stock ZR-1?

I'll take numbers from GM, or car magazines, or time slips from the local strip.

Of course, a completely stock ZR-1 is hard to find, but we gotta start somewhere...

Thanks!

Not hard too find at all, there out there. The 1/4 miles times go from high 12s to low-mid 13s.Ive got a 1991 issue of R&T thats got a 91 13.2 @108 MPH.This comparission was between a Porch 911 Turbo and the Z beat the Porch on every level but fit and finish,no shock there.Top speed was close to 170-175 from what Ive always heard.Me,I dont have the ballz to find out.

With aggressive driving 12.8@112 or so....I did that in a 135K mile 90 with a Corsa Exhaust, and DRM Chip....keep in mind it had Cats on it with 135K miles and I weigh 275lbs, so giving up some weight.

I baselined my stock 90 (at the time) and turned in a 13.1 at 111 mph on street tires. Car had about 45k miles, and a Borla cat back - quite restrictive, compared to what is on there now.

What part of Chicago are you in, we have a large ZR-1 following here and have regular get togethers...and its not a group of waxers we all work on our own cars. A few strokers and even a stock block that runs low 11s at nearly 130mph.

Thanks for the replies, and especially to Demps for the link. I was getting sleepy last night and forgot that Google is my friend.

I'm from Crystal Lake also. Don't own a ZR-1 and would consider it to be more of a work of art, collector piece, than the DD like my current 'vette.

When I was at Byron a couple of years ago there was a nice group of ZR-1's, but everyone was plugging in the laptop after each run so I don't think they were stock...

The 1/4 mile times were fairly inconsistent even within the same years. the best magazine rag quarter mile i saw was a 1989 car and driver (corvette from hell issue) it was a prototype with the 1989 dashboard and it ran a 12.8 at 111.

Then there is a road and track with a 1993 and it was 13.9 at 105.

I think there was a lot of inconsistancy because many of these cars new from the factory had problems with the secondary butterfly actuators operating improperly. some of the cars had the actuators put on backwards from the factory. My 1991 c4 had that problem on the drivers side bank - the secondaries were bound shut.

I have also heard of stories of some completely bone stock 1990 and 1991 zr1's running pretty high MPH in the 117 to 119 range. however i never saw that in a magazine test.

Before my top end porting and Fidanza flywheel I ran 12.9@111mph. And a top speed of 179mph and would have hit 180mph if I hadn't run out of road. They're not the fastest corvettes anymore but they sure arent the slowest either.

Yeah, but there's nothing like um either! Lots of 500 hp, stock block, stock cammed variants out there that idle like the preacher's Buick but blow the doors off a number of fellow Vettes - including most all stock C5s and C6s! But, I digress (from the OP's request...Sorry OP:o)

You've got that right my friend. And I freakin love my ZR-1. Can't you tell.
Me and Luises black and red 90 Z's

Luis didn't think his wifes c5 deserved to be in the picture with such company. But I convinced him it was Ok. Hehehe!

My red 90 Z fully top end ported and powder coated. There's no spray paint on that engine boys.

Luis hooked me up with brand new original GM cam cover gas lid and front hood emblems.

Don't forget the '90s are a couple 100 lbs lighter, so everyone knows they are quicker even at 375 h.p.

Just a quick question. Is the factory speedometer fairly accurate at these speeds?

I saw 185, that's why I was asking. I rolled the windows up at approx. 150. It was getting violent from the air coming in. I've never run a 1/2 mile or wanna go fast event, so I'm not familiar with the rules on that. When we run in the Optima events you have to keep them down for hand signals.

I tried to take a pic with my phone but I had my fire stuff on and it's not easy to do when all that stuff is in place, especially the fire gloves.
My PDR wasn't working at the time, it does that when it's really hot and I don't want to take it in to a dealer for just that, not to mention they make more problems than they fix sometimes.

most of them ran right around 12,9 to 13.2 with a hot shoe driver

the zr1 and c4 in general don't 60 ft that well without a good launch

past the short stuff is where the z will pull quite a few but the late model bad boys and will run right with them

don't let those FBI guys fool you. some of those "stock looking" LT5s are 421 or 427 and putting out well over 600

pete runs fuel out made out of unotanium and pulls stroker times out of stock bottom end cars (low 11s)

the "list" has my LSV on it with Phil driving it at 11.24. I've never pulled that good an et but I've done 129 mph on street tires a few times

the LSV will soon have the bigger lungs (more head porting) bolted back on and sporting HOTB color

I hope to get up over 130 in the quarter which will mean more to me than the ET
