Default original insulation question

I just purchased a 90 ZR-1 and am in the process of "fixin" some stuff. One of the things is my LH console side trim where it does not fit under the console trim. After taking everything apart I found that there is thick insulation under the carpet and making things too wide to fit correctly. What was the thickness of the original insulation under the carpet or was there any? This same insulation keeps popping out the left seat control on the console because it appears to be too thick.

TIA!

Mike

The insulation on mine is beige color fuzzy non woven material that is about 1/4" thick. If you take a picture, maybe I can better uderstand the spot you are concerned about.

By the way, nice looking car. I like the color choice.

mine has the same type insulation but appears to be closer to 1/2" thick. I think I can resolve the issues with the thickness with some pruning....

thanks!
