300RWHP dyno, ideas for what to check?
Ok, as I posted in NachoZR1's post, we were at the dyno last night, and my car only did 300RWHP. Car has (supposedly, need to find receipts) a Corey Henderson chip, and top end porting from him. Also has 4.10 gears, but that shouldn't affect dyno readings. I was going to check the secondaries by turning the power key to normal, but apparently with Corey's chip it is full power all the time. The car runs really well, and pulls strong all the way to the top. If I hadn't seen the dyno on it, I'd say it was putting down a little more than my LT4 Firehawk (330RWHP).
So my thoughts for what might be wrong are:
collapsing intake duct
failing/clogged cats
secondaries not opening
Any other ideas?
Here's the dyno:

No matter what I do with the key, the full power light stays on. Haven't actually tested it by going full throttle after turning the key yet, will try that this afternoon.

I'd question the dyno..do you have a G-Tech or similar accelerometer? find some flat road somewhere and do some accel testing. If you can run a 13.0 quarter mile, I'd say you are making full hp.

Well, I would question the dyno, but Carlos made 340RWHP on his stock 92 ZR-1 on the same dyno. I guess what we should really do is line them up together and see how they compare.

You have Trey's old car, I remember that one. To answer your question, yes, there is something wrong and more than likely it's the secondary system now working. Granted, it's been 5 years or so since that car has been in my possession and Trey was due to bring the car back to me for some more work but "life" got in the way. Long story short, your missing about 80hp!

Yeah, that's what I thought of after they were done. Didn't have time to stick it back on and do another run with a wideband as they had other people lined up. Might be worth taking it in and having it redynoed with a wideband after I've checked the secondary system.

I had made this offer to Trey, and I would certainly like to offer it to you; Bring that thing down so I can do a few more things to it, i.e. "update" the portwork, free of charge. By the time I had contacted him again, he had already sold the car... So if you want, bring it to me and while I'm there I can either repair the secondary issue, or remove the secondary system if you like. Either one works for me. :-)

Now see, this guy knows how to get/keep customers. I think I will take you up on that offer, but it will probably be sometime in Jan/Feb before I can bring it down. What kind of time frame do you need for the porting update and removing the secondaries?

I would say a couple weeks to do the job. The porting will take a little time, and I'll want a couple days two run it on the dyno and drive it. The portwork is mostly there, I just need to sweet talk it the rest of the way. :-) Long story on that, I'll explain it when I see you.

Yep, will definitely be taking it down to Corey to take advantage of his offer. Will go ahead and have him fix the problem while I'm there if I can't find anything obvious. If it is the secondaries, I think I'll just have him remove them permanently. Of course while I'm there I think it would be a great time to have him install some headers and a short throw shifter.

Secondaries are easy to check, take off the Throttle cable cover, get a flashlight.
Start the car(in Neutral-have to say that)
Lean over the plenum on the drivers side, looking down through the plenum by the Vacuum port(with flashlight) blip the throttle, you should be able to see the actuator move if its functioning.

Thanks. I'll be gone for a week for Christmas, but will check that and the intake duct when I get back.

This thread best describes why I still think it is a great decision to buy a ZR-1.....I know it affirms my decision to buy a ZR-1. You can't fabricate the kind of brotherhood that we have.
It also makes me wish me & my Z lived anywhere else but the North East, like maybe the southwest!
I hope everyone has a great Christmas & a Happy New Year!

As you know, with a lot of help from the gang, I successfully resurrected the car. Now, I am starting on performance mods.
