Default VA emissions shop need help!

OK, can't stretch it out any longer

I need to find a va emissions shop that has an exhaust gas analyzer and will work with Marc on a mail order chip tune to get this beast through emissions. I had Ed from VA Speed lined up but he has moved on and honestly they are a bit far away.

need help!!! I have temp tags until end of July but I doubt they will do another set for any longer

I talked to graham @ LPE and he gave some good advice.

go back to an open loop chip to give full control over the fuel trims, lean it out, and advance the timing

I'm at 138 HC now and need to get this big 234 camed beast down below 48

I have the secondaries removed but can always put in gasket with no hole to just block the port and run on only the primary injector

wazoo boys, help me out brothas

I used a quart of paint thinner in a half tank of gas to pass my emissions test.

I spiked the gas with denatured alchohol last time and got the car down to 96 HC might try a bit more with some fresh cats which is the majority of the problem my random stainless cats are 4 years old and don't clean up the exh nearly as well

going to try and mount up some fresh cats and give it a go

Here is your permanent solution. Get a PO Box in a state that does not have Emission laws, Than register your car in that State.

Va is pretty tough on this approach too.

but thanks very much for the help and advice.

I'm going to give fresh cats and a some alchy, seafoam a try

anyone have any experience with cleaning the car up with seafoam?

the LT5 is a carbon machine and having a fresh clean engine sure can't hurt.

might have to block off the secondary ports too. gotta go find my old LPE chip which is open loop to try some alchy in the gas and see if I can lean er out a bit.

I have thought about the seafoam idea, but have been chicken to try it. Sure would like to hear from someone who has done it.

I used seafoam on my 90 Z to get it through CA emissions. Followed mnfctr's directions and everything was fine. Seemed to run smoother after the treatment.

the stainless works cats would likely be the problem the factory cats and manifolds do quite a bit better job than the "bullet cats" which have a smaller surface area of catalyst and the headers put the cats further away from the exhaust port so they aren't as hot..

with the stock cams you should still be OK and the alchy doesn't always help with closed loop as the chip will see the o2 sensor as lean and add more fuel

I'd do the following

get the car very hot
run the temps at 210 or so
fresh oil, plug and air filter

give it a try using the stock chip

running seafoam through can "decarbon" the engine preparing for the test, but do that before you change the oil

good luck
