Default Lowering a ZR-1?

What ways are there to lower a 1990-1995 ZR-1? Did a search but did not find good answers.

coil over is probably best, or you can switch mono leafs and I believe you can adjust them down alittle, someone that is more versed in the area will chime in. My advise if you want to lower your car get coil overs.

longer rear bolts, remove the front spring and trim down the cushions works with the stock leafs

coil overs however is the "right way" and improves the car in many ways.

if you decide to sell your stock leafs, let me know, might be interested.

we can work a trade on some coil overs if you would like to go that route, I might flip back to stock to get the cushy ride back.

Thanks for the info guys. I was hoping to keep the adjustability of the stock shocks but it seems coilovers are the way to go. Won't be for a while yet as I want to enjoy "stock" first but definitely in the future.

You can retain both with coilovers. The compostive springs are the items (front and Rear) that are removed. A lot of us retained the FX-3 as well

VB&P makes an adjustable front spring.Keep the car at stock height or put it on the ground.Ive got the specs on the spring in my car if anybody needs it.5abit just put a set of coilsovers on a 94 he just bought so he can fill you in on what you would need to put a set on a car.[IMG][/IMG]

After a lot or consideration... Ended up doing FX-3 with coil overs and couldn't be happier

I've put 8 to 9k miles on them and very satisfied with them. Do you like a car with great handling and do you have nice roads in Miami? If yes to both, get them!!

I went with the VBP adj. front spring also. They can make most spring rates.

I have no experience with coil-overs, but the cheapest and easiest way to lower the rear is using the longer spring bolts. I only dropped mine 1.5" and now it has the right stance for me. I didn't do the front because, at stock height, even here in pool table flat south florida the front end spoiler scrapes on driveways etc.
And lowering the rear makes that special big bootie look even wider

Yes...... yes it does. My car has longer bolts in the rear and I believe the stop is ground down, looks flawless but the ride is not as stiff as I would like! I figure maybe with the maracca valving on a good rebuild it will be about right. Not sure if all the nuts and bolts in my back will think so!

The most challenging thing about driving the car is trying to keep from killing the front spoiler, killed the right side yesterday on a curb stop.Just goes to show how often I park the car in front of a curb.Thats 2,both sides Ive wiped out on curbs.Even though Ive shortened the spoiler by 5/8 of an inch those curbs will do it everytime. The left side is NLA but the right side and the center you can still buy,I have 2 right side pieces on the way, have 2 centers and one left all new G.M.From what I understand the aftermarket spoilers are junk so Ill buy whatever new OEM I can find while they last.[IMG][/IMG]

Ok, sorry to revive an old thread that I started but now I am in the market for some coilovers I think. So what I am gathering from what has been posted here is I can retain my FX-3's, just add springs over them and ditch the leafs? I have zero experience with Corvette suspensions. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Yes. You will need to get your shocks grooved as well. carter200 makes repostion brakets to make this job easier. I suggest you drop him a pm as well

I lowered my ZR by using bigger wheels. Also coil overs.
