Default Intake Plenum Paint

Does anyone know of a good paint to match stock? My 92 has the typical blistering on the throttle body. I would like to clean this up to match the rest of the plenum which is in good shape.

Thanks!

Jerry's Gaskets has a spray can that's the same color as the original.

LT5 engine color varies widely as new and ages to boot. As such, I doubt you will find a stock color that matches, so maybe you can see if an automotive paint store can match to your engine. The Air Horn is probably the easiest part to pull for them to reference.

Hello Steve, I recall that the paint job looked great. How did you do the letters? I am just trying to clean up the 92. I finally got around to porting the IH and plenum. Aside from some new injectors and the flow master exhaust, that is the extent of the mods. The car is 100% now. Not looking to redo the entire intake. Except for the blistering on the throttle body, it looks very good. I dd learn one thing, be very careful using cleaner/degreasers. I use this stuff that stained the finish. I was able to buff most of it out but it kills me when the label says for degreasing engines, then in the small ....very small print it says do not use on aluminum or painted surfaces..... well then, I guess one can not use it on engines then. Diluted Simply Green seems work pretty well. I don't know why I decided to try something new.

If it was me I would reduce the black paint, put paint into a syringe and drop some in. There are other methods by this method has faired pretty well for me in the past.

Your motor looks great! I was wondering if you did a lot of sanding to get the level of gloss to where it's at?

Default Lettering!

With the right tools, it is eazy-pleazy!

Fingernail polish remover is the trick! Fast, and no masking necessary!

I finally found that after using an artists brush to fill the letters, taking a piece of old T-shirt dampened with fingernail polish remover cleaned off any traces of paint that got outside of the recesses.

Just one swipe with the cloth stretched over a finger, and the letters were perfectly sharp and crisp! (Best results if the letter paint isn't allowed to dry!!)

OK, thanks. Do you think the finish would have appeared as stock had you not sanded/polished?

The overall condition of the surface casting was great to start with. I have seen some that had a much coarser surface.
