Default i want them all

if they make a dohc version of the c8, ill buy one.

i would rather do a full package and make more hp on the c4 LT5 than buy a pushrod.

Demps post on size is also a big hinderance on the later cars for me. i dont want a huge car.

Did that, then I still ended up buying a pushrod (C6 ZR1). While I love Pete's 391 with big cams and full porting in my 91 (600+HP), there's just no comparison to my 2012 ZR1 making 800+HP.

I understand our love of ohc. But, having driven my son’s 2019 GS, ohv works also. Different characteristics granted, but simplicity and reduced manufacturing cost have its merits too. Chevy will be offering dohc in flat crank configuration for C8 but not so sure I want to wait until GM works out all the bugs and pay another $20,000. Whatever the valve configuration, 0 to 60 in less than 3 second and 1/4 mile in 11s is good enough for me. At least for now.

That said, I too would love to get my hands on a C6ZR1 and with a few easy mods it would be even more of a rocket ship, but only for the right price.

50-60? Try 70's....I mean I get the whole thing but I have seen asking prices in the mid 70's...I'm like guys really ?

First time I saw the C8 in person I was in awe....Car looks way better in person than from photos.....Yes, vettes have gotten " bigger" over the years which I don't like....Maybe the C8Z06 will chop some weight off.....To me 3,500 pounds is just too much weight....3,100 seems the sweet spot for these cars...

The C8 is a large car. There are a few running around our small town & you definitely notice them for their good looks but also their size. Bigger than a C7 and it's huge. I picked up a C7 and it makes my C4 seem small.

Ted

Picture for comparison:

I really enjoy daily driving my C6, but it feels so much larger than my C4s its crazy. Oh and comparatively the visibility sucks too....but its still a good car.

I couldn't resist.....of course my price point was almost straight across. The C6 ZR1 has the uniqueness very similar to the C4 which I like.....a lot of people don't know about all of the ZR1 specific features on the C6.

The ultimate C6 ZR1 would be a grey metallic with the 2013 brushed, painted wheels.

Been waiting for the ME since Duntov unveiled one at the NY Auto Show in ‘71 just to dampen the hoopla over the Pantera. Saw the Pantera in a LM showroom in Manhattan when it came out TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!! WOW that was a lot of money. 🤣🤣🤣😉
Sorry if I am hijacking your C8 Lust thread Jeff. Yes Dom, Marc loves his C6 ZR-1 but also secretly loves my C7, especially the A8 automatic and the abundant, effortless torque. But he won't admit that publicly of course. When we get together for lunches (not as much now) I always am chauffeured to lunch. I am happy now with this last front engined Vette. But I did own one of the Panteras you mention, a 1974 in green. I have owned quite a few cars over the years, but that is one I really wish I had back. A 35,000 mile one owner stock original. Great handling, quite quick and two mufflers each the size of a loaf of bread. Boy did it sound great! Since Pantera means Panther in Italian, I couldn't resist getting my license plate.--Bob

I'm not a c8 fan. For what you'd spend for a z51, i'd rather buy a 360 modena stick shift. Evan and OP, you guys have some beautiful zr-1's. I couldn't see myself selling those for a c8.

Yeah, I've considered the 360 gated manual. Pretty much same price point as C8, but you can get a manual and a high revving DOHC motor, and your not going to lose any money on the value of the car (no depreciation). Heck the vaules on the manuals may even go up, and that classic Ferrari shifter is cool. Downsides are it's a Ferrari with Ferrari maintenance (although the 360 at least doesn't need the engine out for service like the 355 and earlier) and is an "older" car as well, one old car (C4 ZR-1) is enough for me, so I'd have to sell the C4 ZR-1 to do something like an 360.

I do contemplate an alternative to the ME Vette at times. Sometimes I think about either the Alfa 4C w a manual and Ferrari built motor, or a used Audi R8 that I happen to like. I know the Alfas are in the 50k range. Haven’t looked at Audis but like them quite a bit in general w dealerships that are more ubiquitous than Ferrari and better parts availability.
Thoughts from anyone w experience on these?

Pretty sure Alfa 4C is DCT only, no true manual. As for R8, you can only get a true (gated) manual in the gen 1 cars, but from everyone I've talked to that had one, they loved it.

high performance c8s are right around the corner. I can wait. In the meantime I picked up a low mile blue c5 2004 with blower.
engine is a beast and puts down 670 at tire on a mild tune. Came with a bigger blower. Engine is a rock star parts list.

nice c7 Z. other than the lt5 the c6 ls9 and the new lt5 are incredibly stout and take to mods

until I can mod a c8, (that's coming too!!) it's a no deal. The c8 is a bit overweight and I like the vette light!!

real shame that a base c5 with a steel frame is lighter!! c8 is another cadivette and while it's a fantastic car, I'm left wanting.

Bob,

Always loved the look of the Pantera. Here’s a drawing of a GTS I did quite a few years ago. Amazing how small the car is in person.
