So...let's say your sitting on a flat surface at a stop light in your ZR-1. The light turns green. Does your ZR-1 accelerate under its own power well without hitting the gas?
My other sports car accelerates just by letting out on the clutch and no gas but the ZR-1 requires a little gas or will die. Trying to sort out if this is normal.
It's an interesting thought experiment to be sure, unfortunately I've nothing to contribute to the discussion.
I'm pretty sure I've never left a stop sign/light without my right foot being somewhere near the floor. ;-)
Everyone I have owned from stock to 500+hp with gears needed a bit of peddle to get moving unless it was going down hill.
Interesting. I once had an L98 90' that was the first stick I had really ever driven (other than a tractor). I remember it would die quite often near idle. I had always assumed I was just not good at shifting the car. I've had several stick shift cars since then and never had another car that would die near idle until my 94' ZR-1. I'm still getting used to the car. It will require a slightly different driving style. I normally would release the clutch until the gear grabs and then as I completely let out on the clutch begin to engage the throttle. The ZR-1 requires that I give it just a little bit of gas prior to full release of the clutch. Glad to hear that its behavior is normal.

Too many variables to make this comparison. It's about as worth while as using the "Peel-O-meter" to measure hp.
1st gear
Final drive ratio
Weight
Clutch engagement speed
Idle speed
Flywheel weight
Compression ratio.
On and on and on. My wife's old **** box Jeep TJ with a 4 cyl would start out in 1st w/no gas...in low range. That make it "better" than something else? Is that a meaningful comparison w/anything? Thing wouldn't go over 65 mph on flat ground.

What does yours idle at? Mine, completely stock, seems to idle at 600 most of the time.
It likes to idle between 900-950. What’s also an important factor is getting the initial AE(acceleration enrichment) and off idle fueling/SA correct. Particularly w a modded motor, u want to make certain u have smooth and less radical transitions. In the end, you give the motor what it wants.
