Default Differential Question

Is Redline 75W90 a good product for my 95 ZR-1 diff? What amount is needed? I plan to probably drop the cover to give it a good flush and maybe to install a drain kit..TIA

I have used Redline gear oil in a past 1985 dedicated track car with the D44 differential and had no issues. One thing to remember is that you may need to add the limited slip diff. additive with this product. I am not sure if it now comes with the additive or not, be sure to check. Some gear oil, Mobil 1 for example, comes with the additive already mixed into it.

I have never used the diff. drain plug, probably a good time to install if you want it. It is not that difficult to pump the old fluid out through the fill hole in my opinion.

Regards,
Brian

I fitted a drain plug to my diff, was a simple job while I did my clutch. Removed the diff and replaced pinion / yoke seals, the pinion seal was weeping on a low mile car so highly recommend replacing them and universal joints at same time. While the kit said can be done in car without removing diff, I wanted to ensure I didn't have any possibility of swarf from drill in diff.
It was easy and straight forward to drill and tap the hole, there are plenty of measurements online where to drill if you don't get the kit with instructions.
Any quality LSD oil should be fine, however do not skip the gm LSD additive.
It's readily available everywhere even here in Oz.🙃
A word of warning the pinion bolt is a bitch, crack it loose with diff in place and tailshaft removed. it needs a lot of torque to undo, but the seal can be replaced without affecting the pinion position / crush tube just follow the shop manual torque specs.

I wonder if you will get carried away and clean / detail the whole rear suspension and replace the bushes universal joints like I did, then you will not want to drive the vette in rain ever again when the car is cleaner underneath than most cars paintwork.... 😆

Hey we are a bit crazy about our vette's needing to be perfect condition here in Oz 🙃
