Take it an A/C shop and check to see how low on Freon you are. Mine did the same thing on my way to TN last week. Once i disconnected the battery it worked again. But soon after it threw a code 09 again. I went ahead and put a can in it and it has been fine since.
If you cannot stand the price of R12 you can change it to r 134a. Just have them evacuate the system completely, put in some of the right oil and new 134 connectors and recharge with 134a. Its not quite as cold but sure a lot cheaper. Did this to mine at 50,000 and now has 185,000.
Hey Tyler,
Got some questions about the ac convesion
I have been looking at doing this myself on my 90, before I tore into my engine my freon leaked out I found that one of the conections had come loose, no big deal to me when I tore my engine apart now I want to recharge it..
How do I get all the old oil and air out do I need to take it to a shop and just have them do the job? Id rather save me the money and do it myseld and do I need to change the evaporator? whats the deal with the conectors?
Im quite able to preform the job Im just not too sure about getting the air and oil out of my system?
well I have seen that kit for sale at auto zone and the cans that go with it not to bad at all, where can I rent a AC vacum system any ideas that are nation wide?
also I have never got a code on my a/c and it is out of freeon???
You are NOT low on freon.Your head unit is bad. That same thing happened
to me.Took it to the dealer-bad A\C head unit.Luckily I had a new one
in the box. They are about 400-500 bucks new.You will keep having
the same problem until you replace it.Mine is fine now.
Steve
no really I am low on free on I heard it leaking one day traced the sorce to a losse conection near the condenser, then when I did the work on my motor I also di some cleaning up on my engine bay and I had all of the AC plumbing pull from the car so I am out of freon
My head unit may be bad but I am still out of freon
