This last weekend at a local street race my "king" suddenly lost all power shifting from 1 to 2 gear. The car suddenly stumbles big time, like hitting the rev limiter...I tried to stay on full throttle in second gear but it run really bad worse than normal power mode so I hade to give up the race. After idleing some time the car seemed to run normal again, no ses light nothing. When I drove home I tried full power full throttle and it pulled nice and strong. Yesterday the stumble came back this time after 20 minutes of driving hitting it in 3 gear at full throttle full power at 3000 rpm, just as the secondarys kick in. Next sec all fine again no ses light.
I went back to garage and looked for ecm codes and find a code 54 stored. I assume this is for fuel circut, low voltage. I checked both fuel pump relays and they both check ok, checked resistance fuse link to both pumps ok, and ground to pump ok. Both pumps have 43 psi pressure at idle with vacuum and about 52 psi without.
I was thinking there could be som trouble with the secondary port control solenoid since this gremlin started after I changed a leaking solenoid back in june, but that wouldn´t explain code 54 would it?
What next? appreciate any help!
I´ve checked both relays and they seem to work fine even when hot. Why is this only happening in full power mode, could it be the secondary pump relay only...or the pump itself...
