Anyone have the GM part numbers for the intake plenum gaskets. Planning on pulling the plenum soon to fix an oil leak. And, yes I know I can get these from White Racing, but I prefer GM. Thanks.
I don't have the number handy - but you most likely will be able to reuse the ones you have. I've reused mine about 5 times now. Just be careful with them - if they don't tear you can use them again.
Then again - knowing my luck if I didn't have a spare set handy they'd rip every time
91 mongoose is right, you can reuse those gaskets without a problem. I use a handyman's spatula to separate the gaskets from the plenum and the injector housings. I've reused a set about 4-5 times also. At almost $50 a pop, it isn't worth buying everytime you yank the plenum.
I have had perfect results making mine. Buy a gasket punch from Harbor Freight and some high temp gasket material, it takes about 15 min. to make the plenum gaskets and it only costs $5.00 for the gaskets and $14.99 for the punch.
I did my own gasket fab too, but I am always interested in others ideas. I made a punch from tubing for the bolt holes and ground down and then sharpened a hole saw for the ports. Hole saws were extras and were fast and easy to modify.

I went to Harbor Frieght and they had a kit with around 10 sizes for punching holes, and had every size I needed. As far as trimming the ouside just an exacto knife kit that I had. It took around 5 min per Gasket after I screwed the first one up learning how to punch it without ripping.
I took a 14"x8" piece of plywood and some thin sheetmetal and nailed it to the plywood and used that for the backing, if you use just the plywood you will rip the gasket material. I made all 4 for the Plenum and inj. Housings, throttle body, and the coolant pipe hose gaskets for $10.00, plus the $15.00 for the tool from Harbor Frieght. I wonder what the demand would be for reusable gaskets(like copper or aluminum with a coating)? Anyone interested?
It depends on two things for me. How easy are they to trim for a ported top end and how much do they cost? I think if you could get the cost within 125% of what the stockers are available for you might have a winner. The reason I say 125% is the stock ones are basically reusable now.
Johnny I just got a couple of rolls of high temp gasket material from Napa. Also Kragen and Auto Zone carry the same stuff. I have driven the car about 500 miles since the Inj. housings and plenum swap and no leaks yet. I had made a throttle body gasket last year when I changed the alternator and was able to reuse it, so I am pretty confident that I wont have any problems.
WHere did you get the gasket material?

I figured as much I just have never shoped for gasket material
pretty good idea I like it I just never even thought to make my own even though I do it all the time at work
