Default Headers And Intake Porting

I need some feedback about the different venders for the mods. I would be interested in watson or jeal headers if anyone is selling theirs. Thanks

There are only two players left in the header market. Stainless Works, and Jeal.

I've got the SSW, and would recomend the Jeals. They will cause less problems on the install. They are not easy to find though.

As far as porting work, my first choice is Greg Van Deventer, followed by Jim Milstead. Locobob on the forum does a hell of a job as well.

Corey Henderson had a few sets of jeals and could do your port work. Email him at cvette@gvtc.com

Shoot me a PM, I can set you up with some Stainless Works headers. Jeal's and SW's are the only ones available(and I don't think Jeal has man. some in quite a while), are of similar quality, and provide the same hp gains over stock. Main difference is the price(SW's being cheaper). FWIW

I bought the last set that Corey had. He can get more if needed though.

I just installed a set of Stainless Works headers on my '91 with no problems at all. Check with Mr. Crowley, he can get a killer deal on them!

I've heard that the SSW's are now just as easy to install, and are certainly less expensive.

Also, hasn't the Jeal name taken a hit recently with some CF members.

The Jeals just fit better on the passenger side. I had the early SSW and had to make a pipe from header to exhaust on the passenger side. Also it fit just a little tight on the floor board (passenger side) I think these MINOR problems have been corrected now.

One for SSW, they made it through a 3.5 roll over with very liitle dings on the bottom tubes

Cory and I had 15 sets of headers from Jeal. We now have none. Where the Jeals kill you (well us actually) is the shipping and customs. It ends up like $400 a set we have to shell out. If Stainless Works have cured all their fitment problems, put bigger flanges on them, they will work fine. Brian would be the person to tell us that information.

you have got to be joking $400 a set!

when I shipped my corvette from Okinawa Japan back to the states it cost around $1500 by cantainer ship takes about a month to get here but it by god did not cost $6000!! thats what it cost you to bring those headers into the USA that is crazy.

the man always gets you somehow

Jim, et al:

The change has been made to the Stainless Works header and they now also have 3/8" flanges. Re: fitment issues, while a few early sets would need a little manipulation on the pass side(it was the s-tube on the pass side, not the header itself), revisions have been made to minimize fabrication. Feel free to PM or publicly ask any questions and I'll answer them to the best of my ability. Happy Holidays

I just sold several sets and Shawn was one of them who purchased one. And he didn't have any issues whatsoever. So everything with StainlessWorks is fine! I have a few more sets if anyone is interested!

Thanks for the suggestions. I 'm glad to hear about the improved s w headers. I will follow up and get some more power for the Z. There are lots of ricers that need to be spanked!
