Default 1988 Coupe Charcoal Metallic.

This C4 is no longer for sale on this forum. I prefer to put it up for sale locally, to someone who can inspect the car for himself, instead of relying on internet pictures and third party inspections.

Looks like a spectacular car form the couple of pics that were posted in the other thread. Would love to see more pics posted here. The color almost looks like a black metallic. Can't say that I've seen many in that color.

The seats do look to be well done. Did you buy the seats mounted on new foam? Are the seats as comfortable as the original seats? The ACC carpet set looks excellent as well.

The seats are done by a well known Corvette restoration company. The leather came mounted on the foam. The details were incredible, even the numbers on the foam were the same. The stitching was better than factory. A little pricey though, around $1,000. Here's the factory seats, next to the new. The ACC carpet is probably the best carpet available.

Honestly you usually get what you pay for, and the Al Knoch seats do look incredible. I know other companies such as Mid America, Corvette Central, etc sell the mounted seats, but I don't know anyone personally that has experience with them. The seats on my 86 are the same color and are rock hard. They were replaced at some point and look great, but are literally stiff enough that you sit up too high and I'm looking for a replacement set. Even a used set would be better than what I have.

Wayne, the post above this is from my friend Steven in Belgium. He is interested but unfortunately I now live in Arizona and your car is too far away for me to do a test drive. I also have a friend in New Jersey though who might be able to look at the car. He is Mr Mojo, a former Forum moderator on the C4 forum. Do you mind if I have him contact you? I trust his judgement completely.
I have known Steven from Belgium for several years and helped him import a C3 from Florida several years ago. Belgium requires imported cars to be at least 30 years old or the buyer ends up paying a usurious tax. Steven is trustworthy and belongs to a major bank in Brugge that uses a wire transfer directly from his bank to your bank. He also imported a truck from the Indianapolis area a few years ago with no problems. USA cars are very popular in Europe and they have many car shows that feature them.
I have owned 5 C4s and I see that you kept this 88 immaculate. The car shows extremely well. I can truly appreciate your attention to detail and the time, love and effort you lavished on your Corvette.

here I am, haven't been on here in a while. Wayne, I'm on vacation this week but pretty busy, I may be able to get up your way either Friday or Saturday but it would have to be early, let me know if you are free either of those days and we'll take the next step.

OK Frank, any day & time is OK, just PM me a day or two before. Try to make it a day when it's not raining.

Frank ,

thanks for offering to check out Wayne’s C4 but as I wrote Wayne yesterday , let me first check some things ( shipping and other costs to get the car to Belgium ) before you go plan your trip ! I will be back in touch later this week , traveling now in Germany.
Do appreciate your support and will ofcourse cover your expenses to inspect Wayne’s car.
Best regards,
Steven Van Gils

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to come out to check out the car this week. I have too much going on. Ron, maybe you can touch base with Turbo Bob, he's a good friend of mine and trustworthy.
He also lives a little closer than I do to Wayne. Just tell him I recommended him.

Again, I'm sorry guys.

Wayne, I posted a request in the Northeast section of the Events and Regional part of the Forum asking for someone to inspect this car.
Steven's concern is the mileage. I will let you know what we come up with.
Thank you for your patience.

Wayne. If the car does not sell this coming week do you think you could have a pre purchase inspection done by one of these shops? It does not have to be a 100% inspection but just something to show Steven that it is a good car and to point out any flaws. Maybe Steven would split the cost if he buys it.
Or you could take it to a mechanic that you trust to be knowledgeable and honest? You have a very good reputation here on the Forum so I trust your judgement.

Ron, I'm in no rush to sell the car, so it won't sell this week. So far, this is the only advert I posted anywhere. When springtime comes I'll place some ads and show it at local car shows, with a 'for sale' sign on it.

Those three shops in that thread are speed shops and are not anywhere near me; they only work on C5-C7 Vettes. Also, I don't think having 'my' mechanic inspect it is a good idea for the buyer, an impartial third party inspection would be better.

I haven't sold a car in 25 years [I lease my daily driver], so things have changed since then, with advent of internet sales and 'sight unseen' purchases. With that said, I think there are third party inspection services available. Maybe something like that would work.

Here is the info on a shop that is recommended by Turbo Bob who is a friend of Mr Mojo:

I would really like to help you out but I am not a certified ASE mechanic. I do have a friend that has a shop in South Amboy NJ. Thrust Performance. You can call them 732-952-2238. Ask for Mike and mention my name Bob Trieschmann. I’m sure they can help you with your car inspection. The address is 928 US Highway 9 South Amboy NJ 08879.

Wayne, I understood that you had a buyer lined up this coming week. I too am an old guy (73) so I probably got mixed up!
