1st vette ?
I am shopping for my first vette, a C5. Found this forum and now am exited to own one of these beautiful large butt cars!
Looking at 98 through 00, please someone give me a heads up. Spending about 25k and found plenty of cars, what should I look for?
I want a 6spd, coupe or hardtop. I am in SOcal.

Anyone out there buy Mech. brkdown ins. for their car? I'm looking at cars with 40k 50k miles stickshifts only, found some of these policies are up to 2k, anyone heard of AUL Corp? I want to be certain they would be around in case something happens, or should I just save my $$$ ($1840.00) in my vette repair savings account?

Welcome to the Forum! Lots of info here, might be a bit overwhelming at first. Easy-to-digest C5 market overview & approx used Vette prices in Nov issue of CORVETTE Magazine, at Barnes & Noble today.

Even with inflated SoCal prices, for $25K you should be able to find an xlnt used '98 - '00 C5.

Mine seems to fill your criteria nicely, that is if you don't mind having it shipped, shipping is usually ~$700 or so in an enclosed trailor.

Yep, found a 98 blk, 6speed coupe only 23.7k miles second owner. But alas they want 27k, I really want to stick to my 25k limit. Find it in the autotrader, it is in the San Diego area, look "within 200 miles". the car looks really nice with lots of mods.

I test drove a 00 6spd with 57k miles, guy wanted 23 for it. Bowling green color, bone stock, the clear top was cracked, front air dam was cracked also. 23k seems high for this car? what do you think?

If that car is in Buena Park, Then I drove the same one. I'm in so.cal on business and saw that car on ebay, I figured since I was so close I would give it a test drive. It's scarey when you read one description on ebay quote "LOOKS LIKE NEW" and when you see the car it has scratches and cracks and looks far from new. Makes you think about buying on ebay. Anyway I would not have given him $23k for that car, after looking at it I didn't want that car. I would rather pay the extra money to get what I want. I ask myself, in 6 months after purchase will I be kickin myself for buying the wrong car or spending an extra $2k to get exactly what I want. Just my 2cents
