Default Supercharger & necessary components?

Talked with a tuner & installer on modified version of Procharger at MDMC to be installed on 03 Z06. He advises to expect around 565-570 rwhp. He recommends headers and high flow cats even if keeping stock mufflers. I don't want a loud car nor a drag car-just weekend driving around with some kick butt power. Are headers and high flow cats necessary with this S/C and will I lose 30-40 hp without it as he says? Before I forget-he advises stock fuel pump is fine at this power level. Any comments?

Which version of Procharger? At 565-570 rwhp I'd go with an upgraded fuel pump.

At MDMC you are working with a top QUALITY SHOP. They have one of the fastest cars in the country. They really know their stuff. If you need some other opinions, call ECS or A&A Corvettes.

You WILL need at least a boost-a-pump at that horsepower level on an 03 fuel system. I think Racetronix has been developing a revised intank pump for the 03+.

The longtubes and highflow cats will help tremendously on a blown LS1/6.

The headers and cats are almost a MUST....As far as the fuel pump goes, I think those guys would know if you needed to be upgraded, I mean lets face it, they would be getting paid to install it! Anyway, I still have my stock pump, I have added a Boost A Pump...But my stock pump was fine on a conservative tune at 560 RWHP. I say do what the Pro's advise, If you listen to every "opinion" on this forum, you will be spending a lot of money on things you don't really need.

Andy from A&A recommended the Racetronix fuel pump with a P1SC when I was talking with him about 540-550 rwhp.

Don't forget about upgraded injectors.

if you're gonna spend the cash on the blower option, spend a little bit more on the component that feeds it. Seriously, FI applications require good fuel supply and the one thing I've found is that, as the fuel tank gets below 1/2 full and the pavement is nice and hot the fuel heats up and thins out and the fuel pressure drops. A lot! When mine was dyno'd the FP was 58#s at the drag strip the FP dropped to 52#s. So for piece of mind, spend the extra $300 for a new Racetronix pump. BAP is okay but I believe it's a short-term fix when added to the stock pump. Also on a Z06 and its higher CR, keep the boost to 5#s. You can squeeze the HP from these engines but the the bottom end can't handle it for a long time. Some here realize they will be building new engines so you'll hear claims of 600hp+. A couple of months later they'll be talking about a more cubes

Make sure the tuner puts in a 160 T-stat. I'm sure he will.

Headers: It will help with more torque but if you don't intend to put sticky tires on you won't need it. You'll just have a heck of a time hooking up at all speeds. It's not needed for the blower initially so beef up the fuel system and save the headers for the next mod.

You'll enjoy the heck out of it.

Your going to need fuel pump and a clutch.
Headers will gain about 30-40 RWHP on a blower car.
You may also consider a blower cam for a few extra ponies
AFR 205 heads will allow you to crank the timing up
alk injection is another add on that will help you get more power.

My car went from 508 RWHP with just the Vortech kit to 560RWHP on a conservative tune with Headers Exhaust and an X pipe...Over 50 RWHP, Form Exhaust! Almost sounds like like a Borla Add! lol anyway, I am adding the Blower cam now, and have up upgraded Injectors to 55# and added a Boost a pump, but still on the stock pump. I am assuming that I will be over 650RWHP after the cam Install and tune. And yes I am one of "those guys" Claiming over 600RWHP on a stock LS6 bottom. Maybe I will be searching this forum for a new Shortblock sooner or later, but for now, doesn't seem to have any issues!
Good Luck to you!
