Default Vortech chirping!

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of the chirping issue? I remember 4 or 5 people having the problem. I read through the old posts and didn't see any conclusive answer. I am now having the same issue and it seems to be coming from the jackshaft. I don't want to go through the trouble and expense to trouble shoot it if the noise will come back again anyway. Thanks for any help!

I never did. Between the chirping and the belt problems I gave up and went with a different supercharger system.

I would focus on the idlers on the driver side. There is a GM one relocated there and a Vortech idler too possibly. Most likely bearing chirp.

Also, check your secondary A/C belt system. They get wet and chirp a lot and need to be serviced.

You were so close to having your setup solved.

How did the RMCR setup dyno?
Boost levels?

No dyno yet. On a cold day I am seeing 7-7.5 psi and on a warmer day about 6.5-6.75 psi. This is at an altitude of 7000 feet.

I was hoping to finish up tuning this weekend so I could run it at the strip on April 2 but the snow is here and will be through Saturday evening.

My problem went away when I replaced the whole jackshaft plate and pulleys all at once. I strongly suspect it was the main jackshaft pulley that drives the SC belt from the accessory belt. I have over 5K miles on it since replacement w/o any problems.

Hello Ben how have you been?
I had the issue when I first put the kit on after replacing all the jackshaft brgs idlers etc it still came back. I did notice that when I took off the original smooth factory steel idler off below the jackshaft pulley the brg seal was coming apart. When the noise came back I took off the new pulley and found the same thing I then installed the factory dust cover between the pulley backside and the vortech bracket never had another problem with noise in two years. You will notice when you do this that the belt will ride almost at the inside edge of the pulley but it is a non issue.

Hi Les,

As you can see, the car is still getting some finishing touches. I went with some headers and a new Ron Davis Radiator. Now my alternator is failing. Still runnning the S-trim for now, but we had to stop tuning at around 5200 RPM's we were at 499 RWHP and close to 490 Torque. We are thinking we will hit around 520RWHP after we get the alternator and the squeeling dealt with. The tuner thinks the PCM is picking up the vibration from the jackshaft and pulling some timing?

Sometimes I think Murphy's Law was written just for me

I'll post my final numbers after this round and obviously will let you know when I switch to the T-trim

FWIW, the new LS2 idler can be used as a replacement for the GM LS1 idler and is supposed to be superior.
