Default Looking for a valve

I’m looking for reverse blow off valve (one that opens with pressure on the control port).

Does anyone know of a simple cheap solution?

I want something that is shut with vacuum, but will open with 0+ psi of pressure.

My reason is this:
I want to hook my PCV system back up (to cut down on daily driving smell…). This will require me to put a filter on the exit of my 2nd catch can (which is basically functioning as a valve cover breather). The filter is required since it will actually be pulling in some unmetered air from that source. The filter will also cause a slight restriction for exiting crank case pressure while under boost and I do not want this. Instead, I want to add an additional free flowing exit point from the catch can that only opens under boost.

This should work well, the filter will only be used for incoming air and any crankcase pressure formed under boost will have a low restriction path to get out.

To be clear, my setup will have two catch cans. One between the intake manifold port and the valley cover nipple, and the other one will be hooked up to vent points on the valve covers.

OK, I think this will work.

What if you used a wastegate to do this? Your only challenge would be finding a spring that would fit and would exert very little force on the diaphragm.

Quicksilver call DINAN PERFORMANCE FOR BMW CARS tell them that you want the crankcase breather shut off valve for the E36 M3 supercharger kit this part will work for you. Caution it will not be cheap also it has 3 openings about 3/4 to 1 inch in size. It closes under vaccum and opens under boost to redirect crankase vapors under boost. I do not know the part #

Thanks for the info. That is a start. Only problem is, i'm a cheap bastard when it comes to stuff like this. There has to be something like this available at a low price.

Any reason you couldn't get a cheap wastegate to do this?

Not sure if it would work.

I would have to find one and play with it. What happens if you remove the spring on a standard wastegate and hook it up to a manifold vacuum port? will the internal diaphram still open and close the plunger?

I'm not sure, my guess is it would depend on the wastegate. You would probably in most cases need some kind of spring pressure to push the diaphragm and plunger back to where you wanted it... but I would guess you could tinker with this by stretching/cutting an old spring so that it exerts enough closing force but is not difficult to open.

Since you need this for a PCV setup, I would guess if you could get it to open around 1-2psi you'd still be in great shape since serious blowby isn't really occurring at those low boost levels (right?)

Here's a wastegate diagram I copied from another website...

Yea, I was thinking that the vacuum on the diaphragm might also close the plunger (without the spring - or with a very weak spring)

Great point, I didn't think about the vacuum... -20inHg is about the equivalent of 2psi on the opposite side of the diaphragm, right? That might be enough to do it.

Bet you can find a good deal on used wastegates on eBay.
