Default HP Twin Kit

I am getting a HP twin turbo kit in may (shipping it to them for install), it will have an electronic boost controller set from 6-9.5#'s boost.
1) Will the stock bottom take 9.5 if i run 104 octane
2) Do i need an alky kit at that level
3) If i did a rebuild and dropped to 8:1 how high boost level could i run?

Thanks for any help and I will keep you all updated

1. Yes, with a good tune.

2. No. Totally depends on tune and amount of boost.

3. You don't need to drop the CR that low. 9:5.1 is fine. The amount of boost you run has much to do with the turbo kit itself. There are guys that run 25+ pounds of boost on a 346.. All depends on specifics.

You might want to get a completion time guarantee IN WRITING.

1) Really depends on how you plan on driving the car, whether or not you consider it a daily driver, and what your expectations for longevity/reliability are. 9.5psi is running on the hairy edge for the stock hypereutectuc pistons ESPECIALLY on a turbo application. I assume this is on a Z06... with its higher compression ratio the gun is already half cocked. Ya, some get away with... but I know of some that didn't last.
2) I'd let the tuner tell you if you need alcohol injection. If your power expectations have been realized by a tune only (dyno and drivability), I assume with running 104 Octane 100% of the time, you would not need it.
3) IMO, Typically 8.5-8.75:1 (nothing higher than 9:1) CR coupled with a good turbo grind cam you could see 10-13 pounds of boost on 91 Octane. If you want to stick with 104 Octane, then obviously you could turn up the wic and spool 14-17 psi quite comfortably... this assuming the turbo's are correctly matched to the application.

Looking forward to seeing your results.
Best of Luck

Bill

Yessir, thats why I am shipping it to them. The have me scheduled for the end of may. It is not a daily driver, i put about 5k miles a year on it. I will be running race gas 100% of the time. My daily driver is a Subaru WRX (ok let me have it LOL). I will mostly run my vette at the 6 pound setting but eventually plan on getting the bottom end built.

No need to run race fuel on only six pounds of boost.

Depends on the tune. Most of the turbo guys I know run a combination of h20 IC, meth, n20, Torco, or race fuel (mix) for added safety.
