Starter problem......any input?
I just had my starter go on me again....this one lasted less than 3 months and maybe 300 miles? AC Delco.
The first time the casing just cracked and part of it was up against the flywheel..... This time, the same thing happened but at a different spot.
Any ideas guys? Are my long tubes creating too much heat? My car was running fine and i took it out the night before for a spirited run. The next day it wouldn't even turn over......
Anyone else have this happen? I have Lingenfelter LT's.....

What part of the starter casing cracked? I wonder if it's a symptom of heat as you described, or a symptom of the motor providing some kind of resistance during starting that your starter doesn't like.
I seriously doubt the Lingenfelter LTs are blowing up starters, unless they always install them with header wrap or starter heat wrap and you accidentally missed this step
Might want to give them a call and see what they think about your problem, because if they say that they've never had a starter crack before and you installed the headers properly, I'd start looking toward your flywheel or motor as the culprit.
