I think you know what you have to do.

Doug said do the Alky kit first, if that doesnt work he will send me out the FMIC they used on your car, well not the exact one but one similar and better

Did you mount the intercooler in the lower location as the pics I sent?
The original way blocks 25% of the cooler with the upper frame rail.

Phil

Phil,
After all the R&D work on my TTi Stage III kit you guys didn't use a FMIC on your X kit????

I assumed that you guys used a FMIC with that setup. I'm surprised to hear all of this. Sounds like Jay got some positive results switching out to a FMIC.

Yano,
If I had the TTiX kit on my car it would have a FMIC on it, ECS's especially. If its the one they used on their procharger setup, it is larger than most other FMICs that I have seen. I think it would be worth exploring...sounds like they have the tubing for it to...thanks to JJ.

Kevin - the TTi Stage X comes with a FMIC. What JJ was saying is that he found the ECS FMIC to be better than the TTi FMIC. That's all.

Thanks Phil's PR guys for clarifying.
Thats all.

So Yano,
The second part of what I stated above still applies. That being that if ECS's IC is larger and appears to be more efficient. Feel free to PM me if you need some additional info.

Based on results I've seen on my car and Jay's car, I think there's some improvement that can be had by swapping intercoolers. The TTiX FMIC clearly works, albeit it appears not as efficiently as the ECS FMIC.

I think Jay not only dropped IATs but also didn't experience as much power fall-off up top as I think we've seen on a couple of other TTiX cars. Not sure if that's a function of flow or efficiency or what. A few import guys that looked at my IC mentioned they were surprised at the way the twin inlets fed to the single inlet -- they were expecting some kind of separation in the intercooler that would prevent the flow from both sides from just meeting at full force in the middle.

I think these TTiX FMICs will make some of the earlier TTi kit guys real happy, so I'm thinking about selling mine and swapping to an ECS FMIC. Again, clearly this IC works, but I think there's a little more juice I can squeeze out of my lemon with a larger intercooler and more boost.

Kevin,
FYI TTix does come with an fmic as posted in the pic.
We did swap over to the ECS Procharger FMIC which did give us IAT's 5 degrees higher than the ambient outdoor temps.
1st-4th @ WOT only saw a 5 degree difference when we data logged on the road.

I'm a happy camper thanks to the boys @ ECS.

There are numerous people who have not had any issues with the TTi Stage X FMIC. If you are willing to spend an extra $1,000 on a larger air to air IC, why not just spend $1,500 - $2,000 on a custom water IC?

Mark,

That's a great idea as I saw a custom water IC down @ ECS..Hmmmmmmmm why did you metion that?

I don't need your help spending my money as Chris and Doug seem to have that under control.

I don't recall him saying there were any issues with the supplied IC.

Besides Air to Air is the way to go for most purposes....if it wasn't I would have an Air to Water IC setup that was fabricated for the PTK TT.

Thanks Jay..I am still checking on some things.

My kit isn't installed yet. It'll be another few weeks.

Kevin - how is an air to air IC better than a water IC ?

Instead of spending $1000.00 on a bigger FMIC to have your IAT 5 degrees over ambient, spend 600 for the ECS methanol kit and have a have your IAT's in the 30 degrees below ambiant AND get the added octane associated with methanol.

Don't be silly - we're doing both the larger IC and meth.
