Default Another Octane ?

Does anyone know if there is a better number to go off of for octane. R+M= X vs R or M. For example VP fuels offer a number of fuels that have the same R+M but different combinations of motor octane vs research octane. 100 + 110= 105 vs 96 + 114= 105 vs 106 + 104= 105???

And how would this apply to turbos or SCs?

Focus on Motor Octane Number. The way ASTM tests are structure the research octane is not nearly as telling from a drivability and performance perspective. MON test high-speed, high-load conditions and reflect acceleration performance much better than the RON numbers. For instance, Xylene has a very high MON number (115), which is why it is so popular for home-brew octane boost for weekend enthusiasts.
