My third FLP level 5 in about 16 months is about to be toast. The first 2 failed shortly afrer installation; FLP replaced them at no cost and Andy installed them at no cost. This last one lasted about a year, but only about 5K easy miles on it. My car only produces 505rwhp
I called FLP yesterday to see if they would do something for me and I was told they are warrantied for only 6 months regardless of mileage. They were going to check with Chuck (who is no longer there) but it didn't sound good for me.
The level 5 is sounding anything but bulletproof. Is this attributed to the vacumn modulation. I am running 2 check valves.

If I have to pay I am going with Rodney.
Andy said he could help me out on the install.
I think the Level 5 is a great unit just not for guys running FI over 7#'s.
The parts they use are all top notch. IMO what is happening on the guys running some serious boost say north of 13-14#'s is that the check vlaves are letting positive pressure leak past and the trans line pressure spiking and blowing the trans apart. I ran through 2 this year with vacuum modulation in less than 60 days each.
I am now using one of Rodney's units that controls line pressure via computer have been beating the living crap out of it every weekend for about a month now and it has performed flawlessly.
What I have been learning lately is proper line pressure is important to have the 4l60's operate properly and last.
Wow- good to hear all the positive feedback about Rodney here......He should be receiving my stock tranny today or tomorrow for the Level 4 rebuild.
I've was referred to him by several memebers of the forum here, and have to say that so far it has been a very smooth deal- he took a lot of time to explain to me how he builds his trannys, my different options with converters......all the shipping has gone exactly as he said it would and I got a returned phone call when I left a message about the status of the shipment. I'll let everyone know how the tranny does when I get it back from MTI. The 2800 Vigilante and Meth injection should compliment it well.
Keep in mind that I don't think that Rodney cuts any corners what so ever.....just that his shop is in his back yard and he doesn't have the overhead that other folks have, therefore he's able to pass the savings onto us.
I'll be in touch Rodney- I'm curious as to how my stock tranny will look after 10,000 blown miles.

***EDIT** Had I known that he built JB's tranny, I wouldn't need anymore convincing.......enough said.
Just to update anyone who might be interested, I finally spoke with Chuck and being the stand up guy that he is, he will be building a new FLT (Finish Line Transmissions) level 5 tranny at no charge. He suspects a problem with the check valves.
My tranny packed it in as well last week . The Campbell boys have Rodney sending up a new one . Getting the hardend output shaft installed for around $1750.00 plus shipping and the core return .
Had the car out 2 whole weeks , now she back in the shop again .
Hopefully nothing else will go down once the tranny gets installed , so I can enjoy it till the snow starts flying .
how well does the stock tranny hold up to 700 hp? street driving not track use?
I am making around 600 Rwhp and mine packed it in right off the bat . Street use only so far . New Aussie clutch and DR's might have something to do with it as well . Have to figure you are putting double the HP through it now , somewhere's down the line you are going to find the weak link on the car.
Some have last longer than others , mine just didn't .
wow...surprised to hear this out of you lightweight vette owners. My 4l60e was built by Dave at Rock On transmission in Krum Tx. I just broke a hard part...sprag we think after 25000 street miles and over 50 passes on DRs to slicks. My car weighs 3820# raceweight. It is a T/a vert...Incon twin turbos. The lowest hp it has seen in those miles/passes is 700rwhp. Dave really believes in vacuum modulation and so do I since the 3/4 clutch pack was still going strong. Hopefully you guys will get the weak link figured out . Our weak link was the 3/4 clutch pack
