Default Is this a good deal?????

Hello, I was wondering if you FI guys can tell me if this is a decent deal.
I have a C4 right now and am looking at this car:
1998 C5 coupe
95k miles (i know they are high but the car is in great shape, 2 owners).
Auto, fully loaded.
Rebuilt rearend/tranny with 3:42 gears, 3200 stall
Custom built turbo kit, running 7psi of boost, 2 Intercoolers, 38lb injectors, fuelpump, and the computer has been tuned for it.
I dont have the dyno sheet in front of me but is is about 425hp at the wheels. Ran 11:5 at 120mph at the track.
This kit has only been on the car for about 5k miles.
I can get the car for about $20k.
What do you guys think?
thanks for any input, i will try to get more specifics on turbo size etc.
Thanks
Jim

Who did the kit? Backyard? 425 rwhp is very weak. I would steer clear of this car - it is a nightmare waiting to happen.

Also - 90K miles is not the time to go to FI on an engine - unless it was fully rebuilt and forged at that time. From what you've said, I'm doubting it.

Ask yourself: If I had my vette for 90K, then went with a turbo, why sell it 5K later?

get receipts on the turbo kit, it's installation and by all means do a leakdown!

If you expect to not have issues and just drive a car w/ an aftermaket turbo system then don't buy it. If you plan on freshening up the motor and turbo's then make an offer for 16K.

Thanks for the info. The turbo kit is from Cerra Racing which is out of business now. Its been professionall tunned. The only reason the car is being sold is the guy needs money for his other turbo projects (twin turbo 69 Camaro and a TT Supra). This is his daily driver, he drives it daily. Thats all i am looking to do with it.
He has all reciepts totalling $35k including the price of the car.
I think my HP number is way wrong, i will get you guys the exact number.

I saw that car also. The car made me a little nervous.

If you can work on the car and it passes a leak down test I don't see what the problem would be.

You just have to know that finding someone else to work on a custom turbo kit could be a challenge.

Good Luck,

Mark

Yeah, i can work on the car myself no problem.
I have had a built a few turbo cars (my favorite so far was my turbo 250 RWHP miata) so i can work on them. I think i will check it out this weekend.
It doesnt hurt to look.

Cerra Racing turbo was a good kit when set up properly. The guy that ran the business (Cerra) did have his share of problems though. Be sure it is tuned correctly. His tunning capabilities were a little low when it came to these kits. HP for this car does seem a little on the low side.
