I got my shroud in today from MTI. This is a large piece of thick guage metal and cant be manipulated. After looking at it, and setting it in many different ways it doesnt fit. There are support brackets in the way. If I unbolted them; then the pipping for the twin intercoolers are in the way. Does anyone have any ideas. Randy can help me come up with something but thats about a week out. Now that I have my car, I would like to drive it, but my IAT and engine temps are a little to high without a shroud.
Anyone have any ideas, does Home Depot or Lowes sell thin alum. sheets or if anyone has any other ideas I am all
I would get a thin sheet of sheet metal and use a cardboard template to determine size and shape. Harbor freight sells a cheap sheet metal brake to bend if you don't have a shop.

If you just want something functional and can wait to get something decent fabricated, I would just stick a layer of foam on it, THe hood would probably keep it pressed down. You could just cut up one of those foam matress pads or look for something at home depot... It would look like crap, but it could work.
Call MTI and have them look at your pic's. To me it looks like you have to remove the inlet tubing first then install the shroud and then re-install the tubing.
MTI had his car for the better part of a year and couldn't even bother to reinstall the shroud before shipping the car back .. I can't see why they would be of much help now.

Just trying to help, your comments don't seem to offer any help.

Sorry, been gone this whole time working on my car. I am becoming a DIY person....LOL Thanks Tom. Chris (Stangkiller) said the same thing. Got me thinking, I was like, what the hell. So, I took apart my entire tubing of the twin intercoolers, the air fiter setup as well as the brackets. Man, took me about 3 hours but got it all off, managed to get the shroud in place, had to redo the brackets cause the old bends didnt work. Then reput it back. The car runs..so there is a plus..LOL I will take it out and see if it makes a difference in the engine temps. Thanks for the comments guys.
Mark, I understand where you coming from, not much I can say expect I have the car back now and time to make it right.

Jon,
I started the same way a few years ago on my C5. It's been a great experience tinkering with the car, and I've found new and interesting ways to break things that nobody's thought of before! Just kidding.
I agree that it looks like the shroud is not installed properly. It is supposed to cover the top, and lay horizontally from the front frame to the radiator/condensor.
I can appreciate that you're just trying to help. I wasn't.
Cheers,
Mark
no problem Mark, and know how frustrating this all is to everyone involved.
Jon, check your tube clamps real well. If they are not secured correctly the engine will stuck air and go lean. Start it up and if your idling good that should be a good indication that all is well. Take it for a short trip and then visally re-check the clamps. Good luck.

HTH
Jon, I would hate to be you once you lay that puppy across the top of the rad and frame only to find out that you were trying to install it the wrong way...

Thanks guys. I also would have thought it layed accross the top. But the way this is cut, it looks like it lays on top of the radiator. I started a new thread now that I am showing HIGHER engine temps. The idle is perfect, around 800. I check everything before I took it out.
Honestly, I am getting pissed.
Jon
should fit horizontally above the frame of the car. You have the piece in a vertical position.
You may have to remove some or all of the piping, install the shroud and then refit all the piping back.
