You definitely want to pin the crank.

What are you planning on as far as a tune ?

You need to pin the crank and you need a tune. You also need a fuel pump, injectors.....
What procharger kit is this. Does it keep the stock radiator fans in place? If not, you are about to spend a lot of time on your back.

You have to pin the crank because the balancer (crank pulley) is not keyed from the factory on GM cars. It is only held in place by a bolt. You put a major load on the crank pulley when you turn a CF blower at high rpm. Without keying/pinning it (pin is a round key), the balancer will begin to slip and eventually work the bolt out. This can result in more damage than you could ever imagine. Some get lucky and notice the wobble....

There is a pinning kit available from many of the vendors here. Some will just rent it to you. It is basically a fixture that allows you to drill an offset hole between the balancer and the crank. You then just slip a pin into the hole and put a new bolt back on. You have to use a new bolt, since they are one time use bolts (stretch to yield).

I read the first post. What you don't understand is that there is about 20 variants of an installed procharger kit. You might be getting one of the original setups that has some major problems (like overheating because of the poor fan setup).

What you also don't understand is that all of these cars are totally different. I know it might seem strange, but what works on one car often does not work on another. The fuel pump is a great example of this. One cars pump might be able to support plenty of power, but another guys (of the same year) simply runs out of steam at the same power level. The tune is another example. These almost never work from car to car and that is why the pocket programmers never work right.

There are a ton of things to understand before you put a blower on your car. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you are just asking for trouble if you attempt to do this on your own without first being aware of all the issues. It does sound like you are attempting to get some advice, but your attitude seems a little bit closed minded. Most people have a professional help them out, and even most of them don't understand all the issues.... It is possible to do it all on your own (myself and many others have done it with great success), but you have to spend a lot of time educating yourself. It is definitely not (install and play). People who want install and play need to go to a professional with lots of experience (A&A, ECS, LPE come to mind as the best).

Sounds like you are on the right track. If it is an A&A kit, then you are basically covered and you should be able to simply swap the radiator cradle between the two cars (it just bolts to the frame) no need to order parts.

It helps people understand when you provide more info about what you are installing...

I would also suggest an onboard WB to keep track of your tune. They are so cheap now that I can't imagine not having one on a FI car.

Just take out his cradle (that is welded) and put it in your car. It simply bolts in place.

A 12 pack wouldn't hurt... also a few swivels and ratchet extensions are always put to good use when working on these cars.

Well I am half way there... got the blower pulled of my freinds car.. and everything pulled out.. installed my intake on his car and buttoned it up...

had him come over and installed a stock map for the car and cranked right up.. I was very happy.. I have never done anything like this before so I am glad that his car is running..

no it's time for mine.. still waiting on some parts should be here today so hopfully I will have everything together tommorow and up and running.. that is my goal...
