What does your AF look like as you come off the gas... I usually see the 02 switching slow way down on most cars. I found that tweaking the idle air control helped.. I think some of the smell comes from the transition to the idle trims. The rest comes from previous WOT blasts as residue is burned out the the exhaust.
Do you have the ability to monitor idle air trims?

Yep, I have an older copy of EFILive (v6 I think), and I have a Zeitronix WBO2. I'll check both of those once I get the car on the road to zero in on the issue.
I ran the car in the garage for about 5 minutes yesterday (with the door half way up) and there was significantly more smell in there post-delete than pre-delete. It was pretty bad. So I don't know how it will be on the road but my initial reaction is that I am not going to like the test pipes that are on there now.
Note that the smell was with the car idling, so I'm not sure if it will get better or worse once it starts moving and transitioning.
