Default update on spillage thread

i have a 2000 corvette, with a supercharger, heads cam package, the problem i have is, at the track or on the street when i get on it and get into the high rpm range the coolant starts over flowing out of its reservoir and the car gets hot. I have been told that i might need a new thermostat, the one i have on the car is the factory one, any suggestions on why this is happening. Also when i first start the car it starts out running hot but if i drive it for about 5-6 minutes the temp goes back to normal,

UPDATE 9/20/05
I recently parked the car for a few days, the car was over heating, so we drained the radiator today and put 50/50 to see if it would run better, now when we start the car it is running a little rough, and there is white smoke coming out of the tail pipes, we have only put 1800 miles on this engine(700 miles going back and forth to the shop, the rest are highway miles, we only took it to the track once and only got to run it twice we had to stop because there was coolant coming out of the reservoir out of the cap), on my other thread someone said it might be the head gasket, if that is the case how could that have happened with the engine being so new? The engine was built with forged internals to withstand high rwhp.

its a HG more the likely. A forged motor has nothing to do w/ this. You may have lifted the head w/ boost but more then likely the car detonated and took out the HG between the fire ring and coolant passage. in boost it is pressurizing the cooling system. Very common in the 5L ford motors but not so much on the ls1. Be glad it didnt destroy a piston and just a HG

There are a bunch of things that could be going on.

First, do a compression test and find out which head is having the problem. Then you have to pull it to find out what is going on. Many of these head problems are install/tuning problems. Forged internals only help keep the pistons/rings/rods together. It basically makes no difference when it comes to the top end of the motor.

I had a similar situation and the problem was caused by improper machining on one heads deck. It would have worked with graphite gaskets, but the MLS gaskets require a close to perfect finish. You might just need a new gasket, but carefully inspect the head and block surfaces to make sure they are within spec.

What type of gaskets were put on it?

Since were talking about head gasket I putting MLS on my car and a friend of mine suggested that I spray them with the copper head gasket seal just to make sure it seals! Should I do this?
