Default TT advice needed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got some quotes on engine swap w/ custom tt setup. What I am looking for is an occasional track/drag car mostly for street (non-daily driver) but with big power. I dont want to have to go back an change a bunch of stuff so here is what I have so far.

427 c5r $25,000
or
383 $13000

larger radiator $2,500

new kevlar clutch
lightweight flywheel $2200

cryo-polishing
3.42 differential $2500

stainless steel brake
lines and pads $1600

custom tt setup w/
garrett turbos $13000

Im trying to get about 800 to the rear wheels, which idea would be the best. I had planned to do 427 now and tt setup later but the compression ratio at which the engine is built may be an issue once the tt setup is complete. Is it that hard to change the compression ratio in the engine to accept the tt setup or not. The place claims 550 at the rear wheels with the 427 but only at high compression. and about 480 with the 383. I want to know which idea is best.

Your prices seem a little extreme to me. $1600 for Stainless brake lines and pads? That's about only $300 worth of parts! Radiator should only be $700-$800. I can't imagine that much labor cost. The Corvette Tax sure is high where you live.

First of all, I think before I spent $25000 on just a 427 install, I would go buy a 06' Z06 that had a 427 already in the car, better brakes, Titanium Rods, etc.. And then get use to driving it with the 500HP before you go to the Twin Turbo power.

But there is no way I would spend another $12,000 to go from a 383 to 427 cu. in. Even if you make 2 HP per cubic inch, you are only gaining 88 HP for $12,000. That's $136 per H.P.. Seems very little for when you can get the same gain with just another couple of pounds of boost.

Also, you can get 800 HP from a 346 cubic inch motor. There is one person on here that is making over 1000 HP on a 346 inch motor. So you don't need to spend $$$ on a 427 for a street car that occasionlly sees the track. Go with a 402 using the LS2 block, get the best crankshaft, rods, and pistons you can put in it, a good set of heads, and I think you would be plenty happy with the power. Just my 2 cents worth anyway.

If you are not planning to do the work yourself yourself, then I'd recommend that you talk to one of the supporting tuners about your goals. I went with 21st Century Muscle Cars, who is an LPE authorized installer, for my TT setup. You can contact 21st or LPE and give them your goals. They will shoot you straight and tell what you need to do to get to your horsepower goals. It will cost some dollars to get to 800 at the rear wheels but it will be awesome.

There are other supporting tuners that do TT setups but I am unfamiliar with their work. I'm sure some others will chime in to give you some other tuners to contact.

Also, I will tell that 550-600 at the wheels is a ton of power with a TT setup. That's where I'm at and I can spin the wheels in 1st thru 3rd gears. Not trying to sway you from your goal of 800 but 550-600 is a lot of fun.

Happy shopping!

For the amount of money you are talking about spending you could go with a Lingenfelter 427 TT.

If you wanted to save some money I would go with the TTi Stage X kit along with a forged LS1 346 or a LS2 402.

I would also ditch that M6 for an A4 if you are serious about racing.

WOW
There are sure lots of Options out there.
All I have to say is build it for your final goal or it will coast you allot more in the end. With the C5 800 rwhp will not stay together. and in the real word you can not use it. I have a 422 TTi X and have about $25000 into everything Thanks to guy like roadrebel that give you great work at a fair price. On the street with big DR's on it will spin the tires up to 50mph on the track it ran 10.50 and lived and it is probably only around 600 rwhp. at 700 rwhp I have heard of people not even making it off the Dyno (Boom). The problem is not the motor it the drive train and 6 speeds are really hard on parts.
I hope this helps
Good luck and have fun on the build up.

I dont know who it is who is pricing these parts, but obviously they are trying to come up with a down payment on a new house.

Ron Davis Radiator Approx 800.00

HIGH hp Clutch & Flywheel 1K

Yep - ditch the manual if you want to launch it for real.
