Installed nitrous in a bag ( dry kit). When I hit the button and spray. My engine bogs down like you turned off the fuel. Anyone else ever have this happen? Any ideas on what might be the problem here? PLEASE HELP! I would like to keep nitrous on my 2000 h.t. Presently worried about causing major engine damage. Not sure how to troubleshoot, this is my first experience with nitrous.

Give us a few more details about your setup. What accessories do you have and how is it set up.

I have L.G. long tube headers & Halltech stinger air intake system. Stock except for these upgrades. There is no space between air filter m.a.f. for installing nitrous in front of m.a.f. I have approx. 6 inch metal nozzle installed in front hard plastic part of air filter. Approx. 4 to 6 inches in front of m.a.f. screen.
He means, do you have a Fuel Pressure saftey switch, a window swithc, etc. What accessories?
If it boggs down, you might have too much fuel getting to your system, have you checked the jets to see what size they are and to make sure your fuel jet is not too large?
I would go to Ls1tech to get answers, there is more info over there.
Stop spraying!!!! You are going way lean!! You will melt your engine if you don't fix it soon! I know- I've been there sort of.
A friend put a dry system on his brand new Impala SS (back when they were huge LT1 black cars) and had the same problem. You are adding tons of oxygen, and when there isn't enough fuel to maintain your air to fuel ratio, then engine will bog.
On my buddy's car, the oxygen sensors weren't picking up the extra oxygen properly, failed to increase the fuel, and the car blew itself up. I would strongly suggest getting a wet system. I know of at least 5 guys who had major melt downs using dry systems. At least have your O2 sensors checked.
Bogging is better than exploding, so count yourself lucky. If you were just barly rich enough to keep the engine running, you probably would have blown up by now. Good luck!
Wet systems are safer. But you have a dry system on a 2000 C5. The MAF is supposed to add the extra fuel when it sees the colder denser air of the NOS...Might want to start there..

Whatever......
Hey 007rollie......here's a REALLY basic question for you....
Are you turning traction control off? I've forgot once or twice and had the same symptom.
If that's not it......head over to the nitrous section at ls1tech.com to get a good answer. There is NOTHING wrong with a dry nitrous system on an LS-1. Over there you'll get good answers......not BS from posers and haters......
go to ls1tech if you dont wanna hear the smart a$$ comments but if you forgot to turn T/C off that would happen cause with that increase of power the tires tend to spin a lil and the tc would cut the fuel.. so that would casue the motor to bog down and it could break something by spraying without wot.
-Fuel pressure safety switch - it might be set too tight so its cutting the system early (bogging)
-Check for blown inline fuse or bad ground even - are you sure the solenoids are opening? do you here your relay clicking? I had a fuse blow on me when I was racing once...Car bogged down and I thought I had a big problem - turned out I was just running off the bottle
-Traction Control - make sure its off
Did you get a check engine light when this happens? If it does check for a MAF code..When tjis happened to me i was freezing the MAF meter when spraying..relocated the nozzle now all is well..
Oxy sensors have nothing to do with a dry n2o hit. If you still have the screen in place remove it. Sounds like your spraying pretty close to MAF and may be freezing it, you get better results regardless. Also, check the other stuff mentioned and then get bake to us. The statement that wet is safer than dry is rather a bold, ignorant, statement, total nonsense. Are you spraying a single nozzle directly at Maf?

Depending on how and were your nozzle is facing and even how the air flows through your intake the nitrous can be more consintrated on one side of the mass sensor and give very false readings to the computer. I have never liked dry systems thats just me but i figure with a wet system the fuel and nitrous are metered and if there is a lean condition the computer can compinsate for it. With a dry shot your depending alot on perimeters of your fuel system. Check you mass sensor clean it gently with a q tip and check the gap on your plugs. Be careful the next time you try it you might be buying a new motor. I ran a wet system for 3 years no problems at 125 setting. Went with vortech kit and i also run a 50 shot of nitrous. 40,000 miles still running like a champ. good luck
