Default quick question on nitrous

hey guys
im thinkin maybe..perhaps...who knows... this winter, i can throw on a nitrous kit. a friend on mine is selling his wet shot setup. I remember Jimmy (ECS BLOWN Z06, previous owner) telling me that the motor is setup for 150 shot all day long. i would feel comfortable using this a couple of times when im at the track or for that weekend "street racing".

the motor, a MTI built 427 C5R, can handle the nitrous 150 shot right? i wouldn't be spraying all the time... just so u know.

soo a 150 shot, how much would that equate into power at the wheels..i keep hearing different outcomes, so im confused. Could someone here please point me in the right direction!!!

current power output is 478rwhp and 468rwtq (without tq converter locked or cutouts open)

what should i expect to see at the wheels with a 150 shot?

thank you guys, appreciate the response.
Aj

With it being a forged bullet, you won't have any problems engine wise with doing a 150 shot that will net you close to 110 or there about to the wheels however, its the torque you will greatly benefit from. I have 3 stages and just by using 1, a 75 shot I gain about 70 to the wheels and about 120ft # of torque. Your limiting factor will be your fuel system. As long as you are no more than 60% maxed on your injectors and assuming you are using a wet kit, you should be fine. A 255GPH in tank would help too.

People often think that with forged lowers, thats all they need to use a big shot. Not true. I've built several N20 motors and there are certain machining processes that you need. i.e. gas port pistons, a cam with a heathy exhaust duration and heads that flow well on the exhaust side.

A stock block can take a 200 hit all day if set-up correctly, so you should have no problem. If you want a 150rwhp shot, just jet it for a 150rwhp shot. Injectors have nothing to do with a wet shot, but fuel pump should be up to the task. On a 150 shot you really don't have to worry much on your set-up, thousands of stock motors are running this small hit. I say go for, you'll love it. if I can help just let me know.

Just like to two above said.A 150 shot is a walk in the park for that motor. Make sure you have enough fuel pump and that use use the needed safety features such as a window switch and fuel pressure safety switch. As far the power.Every kit is rated different so that will determain the system you are using. Most wet systems are rated rear wheel. Some companys are not that close on there advertised HP and some are. The torque is goinf to normally be higher than the hp. Have fun and do it safely.

AJ,

My old car is set up to handle a 150 shot all day long (with its Lunati forged crank, arp head bolts, wiseco forged pistons, and forged rods, etc., etc.) and will give you a HUGE power increase and make that bad boy a 9 sec. something street car for a very cheap price compared to you other f/i options you have been exploring. Big cubes and a lil old N20 has always made for one of the best drag racing 0 to 135 mph options out there for just a fraction of the price (and by far the cheapest way to make HUGE POWER)! As the above poster mentions make sure you have all the safety goodies set up on the car (to protect that $6,500 block of yours) and that it is set up by a pro)!!!

I say go for it and see that bad boy really FLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, my previous name when I owned this car was MTI 427 Roadster
