The parts to build a 6 sec car can't be bought for 20K even if your a dealer for every line you need . And buying everyone elses worn out stuff is only going to get you hurt or worse. Besides you would still need to get some crazy deals on that stuff to buy it all for 20K.
Agreed. The motor probobaly costs 20k dollars or more in a competitive reliable 6 second car, and that doesnt count the 12k dollar lenco behind it..
Slightly OT guys, but I could've sworn I saw a low 7 second Outlaw car on ebay a couple days ago. It was a red '84 and I wanna say it was a 109mm turbo or something. The car... er, the motor looked amazing. In the ad, it had mentioned the car ran like 4.80's or something in the 1/8th and was capable of 6.90's in the 1/4. I was looking for the ad again yesterday and wasn't able to find it.
I think the 'buy it now' option was set at $45,000

That is the turbo car I was talking about earlier in this thread...it belongs to Lee Howie and it runs at our local track a couple of times a year. Previously it used to belong to Randy Eakin. The car is absolutely wicked and Lee owns Howie Automotive and has had many fast cars including one amazing sleeper 5.0 that ran 8 teens and looked totally stock except for some Weld Wheels.
Ohio has some of the fastest legit street drive cars in the country and it doesn't hurt that Jegs and Summit are both here either. We probably have more Pro Stock teams in Ohio than just about any other state which makes getting really trick custom parts for our street cars much easier and much cheaper when the big teams are done doing their R&D work for the season. Larry Morgan lives 25 minutes from my house, Jeg Coughlin lives 40 minutes, Mark Pawuk lives 90 minutes, Ron Krisher a couple of hours, Ray Franks a couple hours and a few others within a couple of hours.

That must make Ohio the Drag Racing capitol of 'vette nation'. I would of thought it would be Michigan/Motown area.
Keep us updated on your big summer events ... where some Outlaws can be seen.
We are turning our C5 into a 10.5 outlaw car. It has the stock body except hood, stock glass except windshield, stock front frame rails and a lot of stock interior, but that is about it. Not a lot. We plan on going in the 6's, but we will just have to wait and see.

Good luck with your build. I'm thinking of putting together a 10.5" C5 corvette outlaw car. I notice you only use a 12" wide rear wheel. Most guys around here uses a 14" wide wheel.
