Crank Pinning Question...
I just picked up one of Andy's kits - its used and came with 1 pin for the crank. I didnt think it came with any but then found it in the box lol. Anyway, is one pin what you guys are running (planning on running 9 psi) for some reason I thought I found a few pics where 2 pins were used. Maybe this is just on higher boost apps - just wanted to make sure before I start taking things apart!
Thanks

1 pin will work but 2 will give that extra peace of mind and you only want to do this procedure once. I say just drill for 2 pins and rest easy. Will it work with just 1? yes. I did 2 pins and my balancer will definately stay put.

We have only done one pin on all the cars we have built and never had one spin yet.

Pinning is way over rated, ECS sent me special elephant grease to hold mine together. Atleast thats what Chris called it!
1 pin here too.

I may check at Lowes or Home Depot and see if I can find a second dowel pin. I guess it wont hurt as long as I'm in there.
But its good to know that the one will work.
Guess I'm about ready to start taking things apart...
-Thanks for the info!

Oh, as long as we are on this topic - can I reuse the crank bolt? I guess if headstuds stretch a crank bolt at 150 ft-lbs might also?
If so, I'd better get to the dealer and order one soon.

The bolt needs to be replaced but funny enough, I got a better price at the Cadillac dealer than Chevy and it was in stock.
Good luck.

Crank Bolt
Crank Bolt should be replaced, not reusable.

Cadillac dealer? Oh yeah, from a CTS-V? Thanks for the tip - it would be cool if someone had it in stock.

Thunder Racing has all your parts needs. Avoid the stealerships if you can help it - I have found they charge more than TR. Go figure
