Default dumb idea inside... anything wrong with this?

I'm thinking of installing my STS kit in two stages. In the middle of these two stages will be a 200 mile trip to my shop where my lift is located, so keep that in mind.

I'd like to throw my vette up on jackstands and install the oil pump, oil supply/return lines, wiring harness (to power the oil pump), axle-back with turbo assy's (turbo's with intakes, filters, down pipes, connect the oil lines, etc). The turbo's will simply be blowing air into nothing, but I can't figure out why/how this would hurt anything.

If I do this, I'll just have to mount the FMIC and run the pipes through the rockers.

Yes, I realize this is unorthodox, but I can't see why it'll hurt anything.
emailing Rick @ STS now...

Can't do that. The turbo will spool up without any restriction and it
will over-rev. That is how turbos blow, when people blow off a hose and
the turbo boosts into the atmosphere and sees 300,000 rpm and comes
apart. If you want to do 2 stages, install the plugs, injectors and
tuning first. Then install the kit. You could install all of the
intake pipes and intercooler and then leave a filter on the throttle
body/MAF. Then install the exhaust and turbo stuff later.
direct from Rick at STS. for what it's worth, I didn't know you could over-rev turbos. Learn something new everyday

The 300,000 RPM I think is a bit overkill!!! But yes with no backpressure (feeding engine) the turbos will spool like crazy.

You can always plug turbo discharge (scroll) with one inch hole, but it will likely be a dog. If you can do it in one step then do it,because you do not want to overspin new turbo, not exactly a gentle beakin.

so connect both turbo outlets together and make the wastegate purge the excess air. That should give you a restriction. But you'll need to keep the rpms low low low

Why not just drive to the shop, and do the whole thing on the lift? Wouldn't the whole prcoess be easier with a lift. Good luck, hope it works out for you!! Dan

I only have 8-10 hours to work on it today... I'm actually taking friday off work and going home thursday night to start the entire project.

I'm simply going to mount the oil pump, run the lines and make sure they're out of the way (no oil running to/from), mount the FMIC (hopefully, I still need to run an air-filter so that might not happen as the FMIC is rather large), and run the wiring harness. it's not much, but I'm dying to work on SOMETHING today
