I'm getting ready to put A&A's Vortech kit on and was wondering about the timming chain. I have a 2002 Z06 with about 12K miles. Is the stock chain enough or should I upgrade to the LS2 or JWIS chain. I dont plan on running more then 6 pounds of boost.
Are you running your stock Z06 timing chain? I figured while I have the timing cover off putting lotite on the cam bolts I would put in a stonger chain is nessary. I never hear anyone talk about changing the timing chain so I figured I'd ask.

Yes stock chain, my car has 7k on it. Been working on putting it back together.. got the cam yesterday.
I did not pull the timing cover or anything, but it certainly cannot hurt.
If you plan on removing the front cover, then an ls2 chain is a cheap addition. If not the stock one should get it done, however, if you plan on constantly spinning it to 6500 rpms I'd probably opt. to put the ls2 chain in it. I went with the ls2 chain and a ported pump when I added my D1 and cam.

Thanks
I personally went with the JWIS chain, cheap investment and assured to handled whatever you want to throw at it. I plan on transplanting it to my C5R install coming up!
