Default STS oiling question

STS guys, do you run braided line all the way from the motor to the turbos or is there another solution? Also, is the intake for the turbos drawn from the back of the car? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the air intake is acutally behind the tail lights?

Yeah, the feed line comes from right near the oil filter. An adapter plate is provided that goes between the engine and the oil sender unit. The feed line is a braided stainless steel line. The return oil line is a rubber hose (non-braided), runs to the front of the car to an electric pump, and dumps back into the valve cover.

The air filters are located behind the tail lights. They are very high up, so there is no issue with sucking up water, etc...

You are correct with the intakes. The above is correct for the oil lines. I replaced all of my rubber hosing with braided line though. If you want to replace the rubber return line you need -8 AN. The oil return from the oil pump to the engine is -6 AN.

I think the reason the return is not braided is because there is far less pressure in the return line. The feed line comes right off the engine (30-60lbs of oil pressure).

Of course, braided both directions ensures you won't get a cut in the oil lines. If cost is not a problem, braided both directions is ideal, but not required.

But I am picky. And it looks cooler even though you can't see it that much. I went WAY overboard on my plumbing stuff for this project.

how much air do the turbos get if they are behind the tail lights? i'm not too concerned with water since i don't drive my car in the rain much. but i am concerned with not having enough air to feed the turbos.

I'd imagine a good bit since the rear fascia acts as a funnel of some sort pulling air up. I don't think there is any worry here.

i guess i'm just not sure how those turbos get air behind the lights. obviously it works but man that seems restrictive. i'm still on the fence between this kit and a couple others. does this system blow through the maf or is it sd setup? what about fuel systems/tanks for 04 cars? would a bap be sufficient and would i need to swap to a return system?
