Default Help! Problem pinning the crank!

Okay got everything apart-marked the 1/4 drill bit through the crank pinning fixture so the drill is just a tad longer than the pin. Went ahead and drilled the crank with fixture until it hit the tape. Then I pushed in the pin-but it didn't go in all the way. So I tapped it in a bit put it's still out by say 1/32( .032) or less-defintely no more. So i tried taking it out but it will not come out. So I take my ARP bolt with the big washer supplied by ARP and torque the bolt down to 250lbs hoping this would push in the pin. No go the pin still sits out just hair. I look at the washer of the ARP bolt and you can see the mark where the pin is and it's now recessed a tad. What do i do? Will this be okay-or do i need to remove the crank pulley to get the pin out and redrill? Could I maybe get a dremal in there and grind down the pin abit? Pulling the pulley's a bitch! Any advice is appreciated!

I would just take a dremel and grind it down a little to clear the crank bolt.....

There have been stock cars that have spun off the balancer. Add the extra load of driving a supercharger off the stock balancer thats not pinned and you increase your chance of the balancer moving and spinning off the crank bolt and balancer. I do this to all the cars I've worked on when I'm that far in. I even do it to camonly cars for added safety.

This happened to me too. The reason is that you need to account fot the tip of the drill bit. I just ground down the part of the pin sticking out with a dremel as you mentioned doing.

Use what ever that will work. Just use a steady hand and don't hit the threads on the crank, or you may have to chase it with a tap. And be sure to blow out the threads of any metal shavings or grinding dust that might get in the threads.
Even though I find myself not doing it sometimes, and I should practice what I preach, don't forget the safety glasses.
