Default ls2 402 stroker camshaft question.

Well i just ordered the 402 stroker from TSP w/ diamond dished pistons 15 cc dish to go along with their prc stage 3 heads . now the camshaft that they recomended me was a 236/242..602"/610". 116 LSA. would this be a good set up for a d1 procharger ? im looking to make between 750 to 800 rwhp . would this be possible? i dont want the camshaft to be to radicle has anyone ever heard this cam in a 402 ? if so sounds clips would be great ..

thanks victor

Personally, I think that cam would be to hard on the valvetrain. It really depends on what your intentions are with the car. I would never go with that much lift. You might want to talk to the guys at ECS. They will give you the specs you should run. I would say something more like a 236/240 .595/605 115 OR 234/238 .591/.598 115+2. The latter would be my preference. BUT... I could be off by they way you want to drive the car. These would still give you good driveability and valvetrain life.

Very nice sound indeed!

procharged_z06 - that seems like an awfully big cam for a blown car. I'm no cam expert, but maybe the 116 lsa offsets some and lets you run it like that. Dunno... anyone else?

Car sounds really sweet! Do you have any track times? How's the driveability below 1500 RPM's? What kind of gears and tranny are you running? I want to eventually put a 402 in my vette. Car sounds and looks great! James

There's not much difference in lift between the cam you quoted and the cam they recommended. I think the cam would work great with a blower...But, I'm no expert. I agree, ask the guys who have done this before like ECS. James

no track times yet, still working on some tuning issues, I never get on the car below 1500 I always slowly roll into it then at 2200 rpm or above I floor it or do whatever, the car is a mn6 with stock 3.42 gears, for the cam size its a pretty good daily driver, since I drive 40 mins to and from school every day, the car as of right now does have some oil consumption issues that hopefully will be getting fixed very soon, but besides that its fine. nothing like having over 500 rwhp NA and i ve never sprayed it, even with cup tires on the car it has traction issues off the spray

I know what you mean about having 500RWHP without the spray. I was referring to driveability issues with the cam at 1500 RPM's or lower at part throttle; do you have surging issues? If so, where do they start? Do you have to keep the rpm's above 1800 or else she bucks... you know. James

That's cool. What is your idle set at? Does it stall when cold until warmed up? Just curious as to how much more driveable the cam is with fuel injection as opposed to being carbureted. James

car idles at 900 to 1000 and when i start it up i let it sit for like 30 secs or 45 secs and drive, car seems to do fine, if i start it dead cold and try to move right away and dont keep the rpms up it will die sometimes.
