Guys, I have a stock '98 MN6 with LG headers. I plan on installing the ECS SC later this year. In the meantime, I'm going to pin my crank and install my underdrive pulley, high performance oil pump, and timing chain, should I go ahead and stuff a blower cam in there while I'm that far into it? And if I do, what cam, valve springs, retainers, rockers, lifters should I get? What would you guys do? I know, I know build up a forged block, but that'll have to wait until next year.
Thanks for the help.
Cheers,
John

An underdrive harmonic balancer is counter productive when trying to spin a supercharger. I wouldn't worry about an oil pump or timing chain unless you are hell bent on changing the cam. If you change the cam then, yes, a good set of matching springs should be installed. Retainers are a waste of money unless you are going to dual springs where they would be required. Rockers are a waste of money... the stockers will sustain just about any horsepower you can throw at them. If you have more then about 20k miles on the motor I would swap the lifters if changing the cam... which would require yanking the heads. Stock lifters or the Comp 850's are a great trouble free way to go... again, if you change the cam.
IMO, just pin the crank until you are ready to go forged and then build a shortblock. Think about how not to spend money twice or do the labor twice... but I guess its no biggie if you are doing the work yourself... some folks enjoy wrenching for fun
