Default Meth / Boom?

Let me know If I'm off base here. I looking into doing a meth injection kit. My concern is putting meth in a plastic container under the hood. It seems to me that in a small crash me could see big firework up close? Has anyone else considered this and used a remotly located fuel cell?

So you're not sure you want fuel under the hood, close to the fender and headers, in a thin plastic container that leaks a little out the vent?
What are you........some kind of wimp?

The autoignition point of methanol is 725F. If you want more safety you can always cut the meth with water too.

Technicly you wouldn't see "big firework" since meth burns clear, although between 60lbs of fuel pressure etc, can an accident couse a fire, of course. Can your stock fuel line be ruptured and couse a major problem, of course. But it would have to be one heck of a crash, and at that point your probibly better off letting it go as long as your not still in it.
I can tell you it takes alot to ignite fuel on the exuast manifolds. I saw a Vette at the track that the fuel rail mount pulled out of the intake, fuel was litterally pouring out of the engine on the return road. The owner had no idea so he didn't stop, the engine looked like it had a five gallon jug of gas poured on it and that was after a run down the track. If that didn't ignite then I dont know what it would take.

It would take 495F, the autoignition point of gasoline So gas will light more easily than methanol.

You could try building a device that would eject the meth container out from under the hood in the event of an accident. Contact the guy in British Intel who does all of 007's cars. I'm sure he'd be up to the task. Or just look under the hood at the windshield wash container full of meth/water mix which every car on the road has. Detroit has been doing it for decades.

No use in ejecting the meth I'll just build myself an ejection seat. Look to see me floating down at your local intersection. I'm just a little leary, I burned a Toyota to the ground with just a little leak at the carb. Probably just because it was a Toyota. Guess I'll give it a try.

Thanks

Get a parachute. Better yet, get a used James Bond jet pack. I'm sure British SS has a used one laying around.

If you want peace of mind, carry a fire extinguisher and check under the hood beforehand. If mine leaks where the nozzle is, it should drip harmlessly down between the engine and radiator. I don't think you will place the nozzle like you did on the carburated Toyota over the engine.

That looks good. Best I can tell from the pic its located in the rear compartment? Did you build that yourself? My original thought was to relocate the battery and build a tank to fit in its place.

Here's a little info from Shell:

Ignition temperatures:

Methanol 867 F

Gasoline 495 F

Flash Points:

Methanol 52 F

Gasoline -45 F

For those of you who are not in the know:

Ignition temperature is the temp a substance must be raised to self combust (like dripping on a hot manifold)

Flash Point is the temperature a substance must be raised to give off sufficient vapors that can ignite. In other words, from the figures above, you can see that gasoline is much more volatile, and ignites much easier. Big fireworks in the event of a crash are unlikely; however, I could never recommend having any fuel tank, regardless of what it holds, under the hood.
