Having just upgraded to a Paxton kit from ECS , My stock A4 bit the dust. While I am waiting for Chuck from FLT to finish my Level 5 A4 I am wondering should I upgrade my rear diff too ? I currently have the 3:15 diff. I also plan to have a stroker in the future with the Paxton. So is sticking with the current gears a good idea ?
P.S. If the tranny goes does it in any way affect the Torque converter ? I currently have a PYE 3600 verter. Is this good for my application too ?
If you don't change the rpm band by changing your cam, leave the stock gears. Your converter will give you a good launch and your first gear ratio is probably a little low, anyway. You'll like the gears on the freeway. That is if you don't change your cam.
If shrapnel from the trans takes out the converter yes. Otherwise, the conv should be fine.

Thanks. Block is stock for now so looks like I'll be keeping the stock gears. This may sound dumb , how may I know if the verter is fine ? Will they know when they install the new tranny ? Any thing I should llok for ? Can it damage the new tranny ?
Sorry to say but yes it can damage the trans!
However it can be flushed out by any competent trans shop.
But that's still no guarantee it's OK so it'll be take your chances or replace it.
BTW don't forget to flush the cooler and lines also!
OMG That is what I didn't want to hear. The new tranny is costing me $4050 I also got an additional trans cooler. The Dewitts A01A has one built in but just in case I have a little extra insurance. Not sure if is going to fit though :-/ . The FMIC is BIG.
He said he's getting an FLT Level-5 A4. The tranny + all options + core charge comes to $3939. I'm sure that shipping to Dubai easily brings the total to $4050.
