Default STS Install Question

Hi everyone.
I started installing the charge air pipes today among other things. I went to put in the upper intake pipe (the one the K&N air filter attaches to) on the passenger side, and it will not fit because of the power antenna assembly. I don't think Z06's have a power antenna, so I guess this question is for the non-Z06 vette installers. What did you do to get this pipe to fit?
Thank you very much.
Chris

Wow. I dont have power antennae either..01 has it in the windshield.

From what I know now...I would leave that loose until you hook the upper and lower pipes to the turbo inlet...see where it ends up...then modify or make a new bracket.

Good luck.

Thanks C5A4TT,

If you look at where the upper intake pipe is supposed to go, it completely interferes with where the power antenna is located. I wouldn't worry about it if it was something that could just me moved slightly, but there is no way for the pipe to run as designed.

I'm hoping someone else that has a power antenna car has fitted the kit and knows what has to be done to get the pipe in there. If no one else has encountered this problem, I will just call STS after the weekend so they can take care of this problem.

Other than this, the install is going fairly easy. It is somewhat tedious (but I am taking my time to make sure every thing goes right the first time), but it is a well planned out kit, and all of the pipes fit perfectly so far. I'm getting ready to install the intercooler next.

If anyone knows anything about fitting this pipe with a power antenna, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Chris

I have a Z06, so I can't be of any real help.

Maybe just convert to a non-motorized antenna. Hell, at least you will save about 1 pound, that should be good for .00001 in the quarter!

I just received a reply from Rick Squires himself at STS. Its nice to get prompt replies. He says that for convertible cars, other people have also run into this same problem. He said that cutting the mounting bracket off of the pipe should allow me to position the pipe so that it just fits between the power antenna and the body, and then the K&N filter on one end, and the hose coupler on the other will keep everything tight in there. I will hopefully get to try this solution out in a day or two.
Thanks again.
