Hey! Maybe you will buy your shortblock from FFHP?? Have you decided who you will go with? FFHP have some great prices and from what I heard over at LS1 tech, they build great motors!!!
I will go forged soon too but I just can't afford it now (second Vette crashed), I could only buy a smaller motor and I know me, If i go small I will have to go bigger eventually! I guess I will wait a little and do things right and only once! I am still waiting for a quote from FFHP (shortblock to support 750+ RWHP with a F1R or possibly with a their T88 if the finance allows then). But like you I like to plan in advance, I got a few quotes, from HPE and LME and the last one will be from FFHP. I will take my time and decide between them.

If I pushed the timing on my DS1C 346 setup I would be past 750 rwhp, but my mere 742 is sick on the street, so a properly setup 346 puts you in that game and I shut my car down at 6200, so 750 is relative again by just increasing the rev limiter more, but for a 98% street car why

Hi Steven,
you are right, however I have an A4 and as you know it is harder to hit these numers with an automatic. I also think that I will have a better peace of mind If I know that I run less boost and make the same power.
It is just that I want a very reliable car (I would like to get 50000 miles from the shortblock at that power level, street car only) and I can't stop thinking that a 408 would be more appropriate but maybe I am wrong (please prove me wrong ). I also heard some sleeve horror stories on bigger cubed engine that's why I am glad to have time to take my decision. Who knows maybe I'll ed up with a 346as I see that your setup is a success!!
I will stay in touch with FFHP and see what they can do for me
