I have a Magnacharged 2000 A4 that has a Rossler transmission and
sometimes when it shifts I get around 4 degrees of KR during the shift.
Iam pretty sure it has to be a mechanical problem since Iam running on
race gas with 16 degrees advance. The KR usually occurs during the
1st to 2nd shift. I shift at 6400 and was wondering if I could program
the car to eliminate KR by changing the shift characteristics such as
rpm, delay and pressure. The delay and pressure are set to stock since
Rossler does not recommend changing these parameters. Has anyone
experienced this and fixed it by programming ?
Have you scanned the car and confirmed it is truely knock or is it from the delta air table not being modified?
Just curious if the car has always done it or just recently started.
If you have a log that can be helpful as well.
I scanned the car and it does show up as both KR and a reduction in
spark advance by the KR amount. I do have a log file but I don't think
that I have file attachment privledges. I could email it to you ?

hi Nick....im curious about this statment....could you explain?
im having some kr issues with my kids car and i cant shake it.....
i've seen the parameters in hpt but dont know what they mean or what function they provide...
thanks bro.
dan
sorry for the partial thread jack, but the info might be useful to other also..
peace
The knock sensors react to a very narrow band of frequencies. At initial startup, they adjust themselves to the frequencies from the motor. Anything that can produce the frequency that they are tuned for will fool the knock sensors. A vibration from a part going bad?

There is a Burst Knock Retard Table. I had some mystery knock once in a while on my car and RoadRebel pointed me toward this table. This does not show up as knock in the normal KR PID log. If the change in cylinder air is greater than this threshold for a given RPM it will pull timing based on the amount allowed in the next table down. I opened them all up and the location in HPT for you to see where to find it. I went through my log and looked at what the change in air was for my part throttle and full throttle pulls and modified from there.

Hope that helps.
What is the burst knock table set to from the factory ?
