Guys,
I plan on going to FI later this year with a TT kit combined with my stock motor (for now). I've heard that the valve springs are the weak link. What replacement valve springs do you recommend for the stock heads?
What EG said. I'd also add that springs are not the lone weak link. Pistons also come to mind.
Thanks guys, I value your feedback as accomplished "FI Guys." I understand the fragile nature of the LS bottom end under boost, but intend to go FI now at a conservative boost level, then forged bottom end later.
As far as the steel retainers, do the 918 springs come with retainers or do I just use the stock steel pieces?
I ran stock hardware along with the Comp 918's with stock LS1 heads on my ProCharger D-1SC combo. The springs were much more reliable then some of the crappy duals I've seen.

I researched this issue add nauseum for my own stock LS6 Blown application and the unanimous answer was the 918 springs (for stock motor) as they will be much lighter on your valvetrain and our a direct replacement for stock applications.
I was also told by my local tuner FLP to add hardended pushrods also and i did this with the 918s and all has been well for last 1500 miles or so since doing this and the valvetrain noise is not even noticable with the 918s and would be louder with a heavier dual springs.
I am a HUGE ADVOCATE of dual springs, but only if your swapping out your stock cam for an aftermarket one. Otherwise, it is OVERKILL and to heavy for your nice light weight LSX valvetrain. This is where my research brought me and I pondered my decision 918s vs duals for my stock motor BIG TIME!!!
