Default Snapping Shafts

We were rolling 4th gear 3500rpm, punched the gas and broke the torque tube ....

We need something we can take to the track and beat up without breaking all the time. Does anyone make 300M input and output shafts for the torque tube ???

There is no input or output shafts in the torque tube-only a driveshaft?

You need to get his car tore down to see the failure. If it was the rubber coupler they can be replace with billet aluminum couplers. But, there will be a penalty of added NVH into the car. I would give ECS a call and talk to them about their ujointed torque tube shafts.

Phil

Ps..I told him so...I get to say that a lot to him .

I am hard headed. I will just keep replacing part with any available HD ones.
At least I can't say I don't have enough power. Parts are snaping at will.
Thanks, Phil for helping me break driveline parts.

If you were to take the torque tube apart, you will see it is made up of 5 parts. One long alluminum tube, two rubber couplers, two shafts. the rubber couplers can be replaced with cast alluminum inserts, but that will not help with the shaft which are going into the clutch / tranny.

Sorry LB-the way you worded it it was like you were referring to one of the output or diffshafts. If you broke the shaft in TT wouldn't it be swinging around in there and making a huge racket?

Every shaft I see broken comming out of this car is sheer'd off ... and it sure sounds like another one just did the same thing. I wonder if anyone has them on the shelf in 300m

I have not seen any hardened front or rear drive pcs for the torque tube. You can see what some have gone thru now and it certainly seperates the the players from the wanna-be's.

Hey Phil,

What does the penalty of NVH mean as I was going to run a set of aluminum couplers.

Thanks, Tony

Hey Jeff,

Is this the car that you bought the aluminum couplers from me for ?

How much power (torque) is being put out ?

Sorry to hear of your problems. Would be interested in your solution.

Tony
