You guys in the FI section seem to know themost about fuel systems so I am asking this here -
Older C5's had two lines between driver and passenger tanks that passed though the inside of the crossover hose. One was a "bleed" off pressure line that drove a jet pump in the passenger tank which then passed fuel from the passenger tank back to the driver tank through the other line.
Newer C5's (C6 ?) have just one line between the pass and driver tank which goes in/out through the normal access plate. A venturi setup int he drivers tank pump line pulls fuel from the passenger tank through this line.
Do I have this correct ?
And can someone tell me what year this change was made ?
Late 2003,2004 have the venturi pump in the passenger tank. The presures and return lines are inside the large metal bellows tubing that connects the two tanks.
So what year do you think these diagrams are from Bill ?
That's what I'm trying to understand - did the transfer fuel system change during these years - I"m looking at a RH fuel pump assembly on Ebay that has two hoses coming through an access plate. I assume the tubes that come through the transfer hose don't pass through a n access plate. Also the pictures I've seen of the access plate for the left hand side has 3 hookups, I assumed one was supply andone was return, and the 3rd was the RH tank return, but then of course how does the LH jet pump feed get over to the RH tank ? Or am I just looking at mislabelled pictures on ebay and the RH/LH transfer tubes always went through the transfer hose for all years ?
Was there a change from a jet driven pump to a venturi effect type transfer during some year ?
Bitchin... hook the brotha's up on the eariler diagrams if you have them. Point is these diagrams are very useful in helping folks understand fuel management on the C5 throughout its production lifespan. Maybe even request a "sticky" as fuel questions get asked quite often... and if there is an informative sticky thread on stock fuel delivery perhaps folks will understand WHY necessary upgrades are in order when turning up the expectations...
