What does it take to hit the 200mph mark
What does it take to top 200 miles an hour? How much horsepower do you need? Do you need to change the transmition or diff or do any aerodynamics changes? And has any one on the forum hit that 200 mark.

Funny you ask, I did some high speed stuff today on a closed course. 600rwhp, R compounds, stock suspension, haltech nose piece, stock hood, etc.
I went to the top of fifth very easily (repeated runs), and pulled it a little in sixth once, car was still accelerating.
Past 150, the hood starts fluttering pretty good, vented hood is next. Car was otherwise quite stable, you definitely need to be paying attention, but it went exactly where I wanted it to.
Ran really strong all morning, testament to the fine work at Lapd.

I saw 195 on the same closed course myself today!!! The impulse to lift once you cross 180 is very strong!
The car was VERY stable at those speeds after Orange county Corvette worked my suspension!!
I was almost topped out in sixth on the 195 run with the G-force 5th and 6th gears.
and yes there is some vid somewhere....

love that custom paint job. very sexy!! my zr1 buddy curtis hit 201 with his 1990 zr1 (RIP, racing accident) with about 400 rwhp.
car was lowered, removed mirrors, taped up the front. above 160 MPH the aero makes a BIG difference as the drag takes lots up HP to overcome
what does it take to hit 200, good tires, a sizeable bank account, brass cajones, and the willingness to risk life an limb!!
I would recommend a helment, roll cages, and make sure the wheels and tires are checked, properly balanced, ect.
in the case of the c4 take out the tire pressure sensors too!! I think the c5 are a better design.
make sure your car is checked out and in top condition. the silver state is a blast. I will try my hand @ 200 at the flying mile in maxton.
my buddy did it with over 700 rwhp in a c4, lets see what the TT can do.

Hey boys. Nice driving yesterday. I think the 200mph mark is more challenging to hit than people think. I know the Murci was expecting to get there, but it wasn't to be yesterday.
I've been thinking of starting a forum just for people looking to hit that mark. GPS200.com It would be a place to trade information and ideas on how to get there. People would be able to join with timing light slips, radar confirmation or GPS readings. Too many wonky speedos out there for that kind of validation, I think.
