I am leaning towards purchasing this kit in the very near future. I am fairly techinically skilled and have done a few procharger installs not on a vette though (other various cars). I want to tackle this install over the winter and see if I can do it with a buddy of mine. He has done a few turbo kits and has alot of tehnical turbo knowledge.

How hard would you rate this install. 1-10, say a 5 is a longtube install on a corvette.
How bad is it tapping the oil pan?
Any tips, advice?

Thanks

As far as I understand the APS kit won't be tapping the oil pan for the return since its not gravity drain. It uses a pump that goes to somewhere like the valve cover.

Relative to 5 being a longtube vette install, the APS and all turbo systems for that matter, will be a 10. To be more accurate, the longtube needs to be a 2.

They're all doable if you just take your time.

The block needs to be tapped for oil return, in a boss at the lower left side of the block.
Not a big deal, just make sure you go in straight the first time with the smaller pilot drill bit.
Regarding the overall install, I've done four kits so far, 3 c6's and one c6kit on my C5 Z06.
It will certainly be easier if you have a lift, but I'd guess you could do it on a really good set of stands.
Just take your time, and follow the instructions as closely to the letter as possible.
It will reduce the amount of time spent on the install.

Yes I think this is APS's method.

Correct, the C5 twin turbo oil supply is returned via the valve cover............this is a far easier oil return install...........saves around 1.5 hours on the install compared to the C6 twin turbo oil return system.

so I am confused. No tapping on the pan? How are we getting oil at the valvecover?

I'd guess the oil is 'gotten' from the oil pressure or oil temp boss in the block.

Thats how the old Incon kit was, you T'd off one of the oil passages that had a boss or sensor.
